Diet 80% / Exercise 20% IMO.
However, I've lost the most weight when doing both; what exercising did for me more than calorie burning was to keep me strict diet-wise since a food binge could cost me hours of exercise.

I've done several successful low-carb diets. I always eliminate beer, but do still consume distilled alcohols in the form of bourbon, gin, etc. occasionally. Vodka-sodas, Bourbon & diet, etc. are all technically 'low carb'.
The beauty of a low-carb diet is that calories don't technically matter. You can consume a large amount of food, but if your carb intake stays low enough, your body goes into ketosis (consuming fat as an energy source rather than relying on carbohydrates.) Keep in mind, though, that (even during ketosis) your body will process alcohol FIRST. That means that ketosis goes on hold while your liver processes the alcohol you've just consumed...which means your weight loss goes on hold as well. So, while consuming 'low-carb' alcohol won't blow your diet, it will temporarily put it on hold and slow your progress. My best results have come from cutting alcohol altogether. But that's hard to do.

I would stay away from alcohol if doing low carb. Your tolerance goes down and you lose your inhibitions. Not sure what it's like in the US but drunkenness goes hand in hand with poor food choices here in the UK. Also with keto/low carb you are trying to repair your liver Alcohol as I'm sure you know is not great for that. |

You drink 5 days a week? Isn't that exhausting? I love drinking, but I couldn't imagine drinking 5 days a week. Makes it like work.

5 shots a night is sorta a lot. A shot of distilled liquor is about 65 calories. That's a cheeseburger right there.

I don't know about these low carb diets but I do know Naturally Slim. And according to them, people on this program can still drink beer or whiskey (with diet soda, DO NOT mix with regular soda) and lose weight. However, wine drinkers have a much harder time. I lost over 30 lbs while still drinking beer (not excessively, just moderate amounts).

Tequila
Bang canned drinks the citrus one makes a decent "margarita" As far as a keto style diet and you are really counting the carbs just let alcohol be your carbs and try to limit it elsewhere |

As has already been said, good luck maintaining it. Low carb diets can cause rapid weight loss but like all diets, they’re almost never permanent. I’ve done low carb twice and know dozens of people that have as well. At about a year your body starts to rebel. We aren’t designed to be strictly carnivorous or strictly vegetarian. We need carbs in moderation.
More than anything you need to cut processed carbs and refined sugars. Beer is definitely NOT on the menu if you want to be successful long term. You also need to focus on getting the right amount of protein because it keeps you full longer and you get more bang for your buck calorie-wise. But if you cut out carbs altogether your brain is going to start screaming at you to eat sweets and crap. Eat a balanced diet with smaller portions and you’ll have much better long term success. |

Bread and pasta are bad. Sweets are even worse. Cut those out and you’ve already won half the battle, maybe more.
