Rick Pitino reportedly fired by Louisville in wake of federal corruption case

Pitino’s attorney, Steve Pence, told the Louisville Courier-Journal that the coach had been placed on administrative leave Wednesday and that he had been “effectively fired.” Pitino’s contract says he must be given 10 days’ notice of his termination, which only can be decided by a vote of the Louisville athletic department’s Board of Directors, and that Pitino must be allowed to “present evidence” in his defense over that 10-day span.

Wasn't the Big 12 interested in adding Louisville a few years ago? Not that there aren't other schools implicated, but it seems like we might be better off at least.

I'm sure he has bent as many rules as the average Coach K, Roy, or Calipari (averaged out). If I had to guess, I'd say:

1. Calipari
2. Roy
3. Self
4. Coach K

In order of corruptibility. If someone told me Wiggins was funneled to a KU/Adidas/an agency, I'd believe it. But I hope not.

With Wiggins' background (NBA father, Olympic mother) and ridiculous pedigree as a high school basketball player, I'd be surprised if anything like this happened with him.

Can't say I'd be too surprised if this stuff happened under Self, though, but let's just hope KU went unscathed in this one.

Long convoluted story but I'll try

-mother****er gets dinged for securities fraud
-to get off rolls over on dudes he knows that are funneling money to kids.
-primary guy is an adidas guy who is funneling money to asst coaches to get recruits then send recruits to adidas.
-one of the kids that got money was a Louisville recruit who they got at the 11th hour without a visit.
- facts come out it looks bad. Given they did this RIGHT AFTER getting on probation for buying whores for underage recruits, that's finally enough to fire the dirtbag.
- everybody is shitting their pants. 4 asst coaches, 7 schools (iirc) and several recruits listed. Everybody is waiting to see what all turns up. They are pressing these guys to roll over.

That's the most readers digest version I can get the story out which is to the best of my knowledge.

There is a thread on it here that has some good discussion on it.

EDIT: oh yeah. ESPN already made it a race thing because black assistants are taking heat for white coaches. :rollseyes:
