This thread and the responses therein are a symptom of the broader disease.

The fanbase attaches itself to the team at a sickening level. They think that being the "loudest fans" is meaningful and not just a marketing ploy. Consequently, they end up associating themselves with the team to the extent that any criticism of the team is met as a criticism of their person, which prevents an honest evaluation of the franchise.

It's like Chiefs fans are parents who think that buying the most raffle tickets for their kid is more important than putting him/her in a position to succeed in life.

I will be there cheering only when we do something good or a Ron Parker on the field death. None of this fake ass cheering from me though.

I would say quite the opposite. I think most people view football/Chiefs as entertainment and as a small but fun part their life. If trying to set the record helps make Arrowhead louder and crazier for a night, then I am all for it.

I have a son that was born and graduating HS since the last Chiefs playoff win...

Hell he has won more football championships than the Chiefs in his lifetime...

People act like the fans wanting this record means the team can't focus on winning playoff games.

The record is completely meaningless and it leads to the stupid homerism you see on display in this thread where people talk about Arrowhead like it's a formidable place to play. It prevents an objective analysis of the team.

You know what made Arrowhead tough? Derrick Thomas, Neil Smith, Dale Carter, James Hasty, Dan Saleamua, Albert Lewis, Kevin Ross, and the litany of murderous defensive players that would harass the opposing offense. It was never the fans.

I should've touched on this. Right now, due to the front office, and ownership, Seattle has the loudest fan base by a country mile. It's not even remotely close. In fact, there are a few other teams I would gamble have a louder fan base than ours. But when you only have 40k at the games, who could blame them?

I was pretty much referencing "prime" times.

Doesn't matter.

I was at Arrowhead when we played Manning during the G-Rob special. It was the loudest I've ever been in any place in my life and it didn't make a ****'s worth of difference because the players couldn't bring shit for pressure and the D-Co was ****ing Shakes the Clown.

Decibel level is completely overrated. Familiarity with the field, routine, and sleeping in your own bed is what leads to HFA.

I'll take your word for it. I remember thinking after the MNF opener in 10 "How could it ever get any louder than that?" after someone told me that was nothing compared to the 90's.

Been a season ticket holder for a long time. Went to games in the 90s a lot. That playoff game against Indy with the poster rolls banging seats was the loudest game I've ever been at.

And the Colts never punted, even once.

We won't break it, but Guiness will rig it in an attempt to drum up new interest from other fanbases.

So to an extent the NFL is rigged?
