Most likely, we lost Carr, McClain, and Orton. 3 losses. Then we gained Quinn and Hillis. 2 gains. A difference of 1 loss, so we get 1 pick. For Carr. And it will be a good pick. But it's possible Barry Richardson will be counted as a loss. He probably signed a cheapo one-year contract, but he's started all year. He may count. In that case, the total is 4 losses to 2 gains, so we get 2 picks. One for Carr, one for Orton since he signed the next best contract. The Orton pick would be a late-rounder. The worst-case scenario is that B-Rich doesn't count and Abe Elam does, which would mean 3 losses and 3 gains. In that case, regardless of contract amounts or snap counts, the absolute best we could hope for is a 7th round pick. We might get a 7th rounder simply because we lost better quality players than we signed. Otherwise, we get nothing. But even Pioli can't be THAT stupid, to have pissed away a likely third round pick for Abe Elam. So that scenario is unlikely. Bottom line, we should get a good pick for Carr. That much seems guaranteed. Whether we get anything else depends on which players qualify as meaningful losses. |
