Chuck Berry Died This Afternoon
Breaking News out of St. Louis. Seriously bummed out. Chuck was Rock n Roll.

According to the St. Charles County Police Department, legendary musician Chuck Berry has died. He was 90 years old. Police say they responded to a medical emergency on Buckner Road at approximately 12:40 p.m. today (Saturday, March 18). Inside the home, first responders observed an unresponsive man and immediately administered lifesaving techniques. Unfortunately, the 90-year-old man, later identified as Charles Edward Anderson Berry Sr., better known as legendary musician Chuck Berry, could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at 1:26 p.m. We will have more the legendary life and career of Chuck Berry soon. |

On a semi-related note, I've watched this video from John Scruggs that showed up on my FB feed a dozen times now.
When I reposted it a few weeks ago - my comment was "if you listen closely, you can almost Maybelline being born". Chuck Berry was the right guy at the right time to evolve the music of slaves and sharecroppers, which itself had evolved from African rhythms mixed with gospel hymns and old Southern standards, into the most popular genre of music ever. |
