Yeah, in high school.
Best time was 4.6 (stop watch) but I generally ran 4.7. One of the guys ran a 4.5 and later played at Coffeyville, but then again, many of the guys I played with in high school went on to play college ball (some at the D-I level). With that said, it was 27 years ago and athletes then don't look like athletes now. |

It must have been 20 year ago now, but one 4th of July the whole family was over at my folk's house. We had been eating all day and had a few drinks -- nothing crazy but a few. And it's about 90+ degrees out as usual for that time of year in KC. My brother and I start jawing at each other and decided to race around the house -- 3 times. Well we finished that activity and moved on to the heat stroke activity. We both just laid on the family room floor for the duration of the evening. Everyone else went to go watch fireworks.

It was. It was just the good ol boy network. About 5 years later a new principal came in and fired that coach. They brought in my cousin who was the D-Cordinator at Park Hill South to take the job. He turned the program around and modernized it as far as the weight room and summer 7 on 7 camps go, as well as the schemes. I think in his first 3 years they went to a state semi and state quarterfinal, but eventually the honey moon ended and he met resistance at trying to bring to St. Joe what the big KC schools do... too much work and complaints by lazy kids and parents. He didn't get his contract renewed and they haven't sniffed the playoffs since.
