I haven't looked into their cap situation and whatnot, but it may be relevant that GB is the system Dorsey was taught in and within the last year they have extended the contracts of 2 guys that are basically carbon copies of Jaye Howard and Sean Smith.

They gave Mike Daniels 4/41 and he's our Jaye Howard (Daniels is probably a little better, but not by much)

They gave Sam Shields 4/39.

Jaye/Sean are comparable to Mike/Sam in age, productivity, skill set ...just about everything.

Sean smith going to the highest bidder (Raiders?)
Berry going to be top paid guy in the league 9.5+
Grubbs guaranteed 4.5 million next year
Jaye Howard looking to break bank
Jeff Allen might follow Pederson to philly
Stephenson is history
Chase Daniel is history, wants to play(Houston?)

Raiders is good salar cap position (60+ million cap room)

Denver with about 30 million in cap room by cutting Manning a lot of that will be taken up if they tag VonMiller

Chargers screwed

He thinks they keep DJ and Berry, lose Howard and Sean Smith. Restructure Charles.

I would hesitate to call it good since it almost made me cry.

but it was certainly informative

I think it really separated the facts from the fantasy on who we can or cannot keep. We are definitely going to lose at least two really good players who are fan favorites. Who they are I have no idea.

Told you Howard was looking to break the bank, I take that as top 5 money for his position.

He wants that Corey Liuget/Calais Campbell money. I still think the Jags give it to him, too.

Making my way through our free agent list, here's my assessment:

Eric Berry - I'd like to sign him, but if it couldn't be done in the $6M range, I'd let him walk. Safety is not a premier position in this league and despite his great story, you cannot pay premium dollars for said position.

Derrick Johnson - The guy obviously still has something left in his tank. Again, I'd make a fair offer; if he took it, fine, if not time to move on with the next generation.

Sean Smith - If the guy asks for the sun and moon, adios. However, I'd really hate to lose this guy. I'd offer something that would be commensurate with the second tier of CBs in the league.

Jaye Howard - Gotta be skeptical whenever a guy has a career year in a contract year. I'd let him walk as he's just gonna be too expensive.

Tamba Hali - Assuming he just doesn't retire (and I think he might), I'd make an offer to keep Tamba. In my mind, Dee Ford is not a suitable replacement (probably never will be), so I'd make a rather low ball offer to Tamba if he wanted to stay another year while we sort out our OLB position.

Chase Daniel - Don't want ANYONE from MU on this team (yeah, I'm a KU guy....ok, maybe Mitch Morse, but that's it.....two MU guys is one too many!), so I'd let him walk. Time to see what we have in Murray and/or Bray as backups.

Tyvon Branch - Good player if he can avoid injury. Playing "part time" allowed him to dodge said injury. Another modest offer to keep him, but if he walks, he walks. Would not pay starter money for Branch.

Mike DeVito - Guy is an underrated player. I think he'd stay for another low-ish offer, so I'd attempt to keep him in the mix.

Jeff Allen - I like the guy, but his injury history is worrisome. Like to keep him, but he'd have to take a discount as per that injury history.

Husain Abdullah - Under-rated player. I'd make a decent offer to keep him, but wouldn't over pay as he's not a "difference maker"; nonetheless, he's a good player who I'd like to keep.

Jason Avant - Despite Dane wanting to keep this guy around for another year, I'd part ways with Avant unless he was willing to accept a minimum type offer.

Frank Zombo - Unlike some, I think Zombo is a serviceable LB. Plus, he knows the system, and won't be very expensive. I'd make another low-ish offer, and if he walks, he walks.

Donald Stephenson - I wouldn't keep this guy around for $1. He's had his chances. Adios amigo.

Jamell Fleming - Like it or not, the guy seems to be around the ball a lot.....probably because they're picking on him. Nonetheless, I kind of like Fleming, so I'd make an effort to keep him on the squad as a backup CB. Plays decent special teams too.

Dezman Moses - Still thinking about that stupid late hit, so I'd probably part ways with Mr Moses.

You would make a horrible GM. You just said that you want to lowball every person on that list.

I'll be upset if we lose any of our guys. The team has plenty of cap space to re-sign everyone. I trust the financial guys in our organization to structure the contracts well to keep everyone. I was able to do it being an armchair GM. They know more about contract than me so theres definitely a way to keep everyone and have money left over.

It's going to be a rehash of the 2014 offseason, except for the fact better players are going to be walking this time instead of JAGs like Asamoah.

That's how it works. Can't have 2015 off seasons every year.

It's worth it too if you can get good comp picks for Sean Smith, Jaye Howard and Jeff Allen.
2017 offseason would be amazingly set up.
