So they like Geno enough that they picked a right tackle over him.

So we're assuming Reid and Dorsey are reeruns?

I'm not sure why you jumped to that conclusion. Could it be that they liked him but felt that Alex + Fisher was a better organizational move?

Or that having Geno on the bench may rattle Alice after what happened in SF. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of conversation that happened before the trade where the Chiefs assured Alice he wouldn't be pushed by a high draft pick or FA. Obviously speculation, but hey everyone else is doing it

So now we're assuming that instead of doing what's best for the team by drafting Geno, Reid and Dorsey care more about not hurting Alex Smiths feelings?

Nice strawman.

I think they wanted to see what Alice could do in their system without looking over his shoulder. Not "not hurt his feelings" like you are suggesting.

Now we're back to them not wanting Geno which was the original point. That's what all their moves point to. You don't trade 2 seconds for a Qb if you want Geno. You don't make Chase Daniel one of if not the highest paid back up QB if you want Geno. You don't go into the draft with no RT if you want Geno.

THis is just an opinion.

As to your last sentence, who's to say that a different regime took over and determined Donald Stephenson was the RTOTF without informing the public. Would that be the same thing as "going into the draft with no RT"?

It amazes me how much people on both sides of the argument try to make definitive statements without having any inkling of what is actually going on. Then they get angry when you inform them that they're merely speculating (which is absolutely fine, I do it all of the time). It's absolutely incredible.

How is it an opinion. How gross of a mismanagement of the position would it be if they spend two second rounds on Alex Smith, give Chase Daniel the one of the highest backup QB contracts in the league, and then spent the first overall pick on another QB?

Cause at the same time they were trying to trade Albert. Regardless we would have been without a RT or LT if everything went according to plan.

It is speculation, of course. No one knows what was really said. But given the facts, anyone who thinks they would turn around and draft a QB first overall after what they had done earlier in the off season is kidding themselves.

There is no possible way that they could have had the nessesary amount of information about any of the quarterbacks from this class when they made the decision to trade for Alex Smith.

Do you think Dorsey was sending scouts to WV games to scout Geno when they have Aaron Rodgers? I dont.

How about Reid sending scouts Wheb he had his 100 million dollar Mike Vick and Nick Foles as well.

You know who I bet both teams sent lots of scouts to see?

Joeckel and Fisher.

They never had any intention of picking a QB.

It was "can't wait to get Alex" from day one.

I would guarantee that that scouts from every team was at several of Geno's game.

Don't like Geno at 1? Ok. I understand...but you don't take a right tackle at 1 if anyone is willing to move up.

We were already talking to Miami about Albert and they were obviously looking to move up in the draft because they did so and moved to 3.

By not trading down and adding a second round pick, staying at 1 and taking Fisher was Dorsey saying "Fisher is a SPECIAL prospect that we can't afford to lose"

I'd sure like to see what they did...

Yeah, deciding not to trade down is looking like not such a great move now.
