Hell at the start of the tournament if you would have said F4 loss I’d have put it at less than 25% as poorly as this team has played at times.

FWIW I agree. Wholeheartedly. But I honestly think that it wouldn’t have mattered.

As is life, you cant always be results oriented. You need to have an effective strategy and stick to it. Ive had 50k breakeven streaks in poker (online anyway), and always come out on top once I reach a reasonable sample size.
Agreed. It is definitely easier to shoot 50% on 10 shots than 20, but that still doesn't change the value of a volume 3PT shooting approach (especially for a team like that) and that Self basically let them do what they wanted out there for most of the first half.

Agreed. Im not even a KU fan but they really overachieved this year from what most expected out of them back when the season started. Seemed like in January/February it was all about just getting # 14 and anything else was just a bonus, but then Graham came into his own and fans changed their tune on just how far they could/should go, but overall talent, depth wise Bills had a lot better. I really think Bill took this team as far as he possibly could. Tonight they just happened to run into the best team in the country. If they had been on the other side of the bracket theyd be playing Villanova on Monday. Seasons like this prove that Bill is one of the best in all of college BB.

No, it would have been the case. It wasn't a matter of which big you put out there. We don't have large men that can play the perimeter. Udoka is new to the game, Silvio should be in High School and Mitch can't hang with that type of talent. Mitch gets eaten up by NBA talent. Not his fault, its just not his game at this point in his career.

You have to roll with your best players. You can't suddenly go with a different line up in the Final Four, its too much newness. Plus, you take away your only chance to effect a mismatch for your own team at the other end of the court.

There was only one way to win, the Nova bigs couldn't go off. We had to play a game where Nova hopefully had an off night shooting in a dome environment and we could take advantage of more reliable two point field goals. Instead, they blitzed us, and we had to play catch up the whole game. Playing Mitch is wishful thinking that takes away the only possible advantage we might have had.

Villanova is just a better team this year. We were an odd team that overachieved. Villanova had to miss for us to win. They didn't so we didn't. It had nothing to do with getting "out coached". If you have a superior team and they play at a high level, you're going to win and no amount of opposing coaching is going to stop that.

We don't know that. Lightfoot at least has the lateral footspeed to match up with Spellman defensively and is capable of playing on the perimeter. Azubuike does not have that capability whatsoever, he's far too big and slow. He was an incredible liability all night against that team and that should have been entirely predictable to the coaching staff going into the game.

Except Self did run with a new lineup in the tournament when he essentially benched Lightfoot (ostensibly for rebounding). He played matchups in the earlier rounds against Seton Hall/Duke to deal with those teams' strengths (offensive rebounding) and there was no reason he shouldn't have here in a matchup that we couldn't possibly win with our traditional lineup.

Once Spellman started making open threes and Udoka showed he couldn't dominate Spellman on the other end, it was time to adjust this line of thinking. Self never did.

Villanova was definitely the better team and Self was out coached. These two things aren't mutually exclusive.

I don’t like the direction at all. If l just want to see a bunch of outside shots, l can watch the WNBA. It’s going to get a lot worse fast because of Villanova’s success. The NCAA needs to act to protect college B.B. from becoming the WNBA.

Thankfully nobody watches the wnba so everyone else is clueless as to whether this is good or bad.

Maybe the game would be better if they actually called carrying the ball. Why bother to even dribble? I don't like where the game has gone; it's getting unwatchable... Add the intentional fouls at the end of close games and something really needs to be done.

Good season for the Jayhawks, they looked lost a few times this year and was quite an achievement to get as far as they did.

Yep, just have to admit, Nova was better. Selfs teams have never been one to "close out" on the 3 point shooters, seemingly coached to sag in the middle and play help defense. I thought after the first time out when they made 3 straight treys, he would tell the guys to close out on the shooters and get in their face, unfortunately didnt happen until the second half, where they played better. All in all a very good season, outperformed my and many expectations!

I agree with this. 3 pt barrage is boring as he'll to watch. Not sure that would have helped us last night since they were bombing from deep as well. The current trend of calling so many charges on borderline blocks/charges contributes to more long range shots as well. Need to extend the circle and widen lane.
