The Royals invited a few older vets who are trying to make a comeback to training camp. The one guy I hope succeeds is Ryan Madson. He hasn't pitched since 2011 but, the last five years that he did pitch (2007 - 2011), the highest ERA during that time frame was 3.26. The last two years, his ERA was below 2.60. If he has truly recovered, he could be one heck of an addition to the bullpen. I know that doesn't help with the "lefty specialist" but I would rather have a recovered Madson than a mediocre Collins.

This is what I suspected after I read up on the guy. If this guy can step up then that gives the Royals time to prepare Finnegan for a starter role. May be a long shot, but it's worth the chance. What do you know about Reid Redman, whom we also got in the trade, has put up some pretty decent numbers in high A and Double AA with only limited experience on the mound after converting over from the infield.

I don't know much about him, other than he has a big arm and can't hit breaking balls.

He's worth watching.

Brett Eibner also falls into that category... if he struggles with the bat this year, I think we may be talking about Eibner's move to the bump this time next year...

I'd call that more like a middling outing.

He struck out the side, which included a legitimate MLB player (Adam Rosales) a quality AAAA type who has contributed solidly at the MLB level (Ed Lucas) and some guy I've never heard of.

Gave up a single to Joey Gallo, hit a batter, and gave up a triple in between those Ks.

What the Royals did to Colby Lewis yesterday would be more like "getting rocked" IMO...
