Tom Brady is clearly well past his peak (which means he's in decline). I stand by that completely. That doesn't mean he's not still quite good or is incapable of winning with a team as stacked as the Pats.

I watched the game. I expect "THE BEST PROSPECT SINCE LEBRON JAMES" to play a ****ing GOOD GAME in the tourney ... or, at the very least, PLAY A SHITTY GAME WHILE AT LEAST BEING AGGRESSIVE.
From the sounds of it, you watched one game of his all year (which wouldn't be surprising based on your past statements about KU basketball, such as your hilarious inability to tell Tyshawn Taylor and Elijah Johnson apart) and then formed your entire opinion on him based on that. If you're prepared to write off such talents based on one bad game as an 18 year old, go ahead. Just know that it's pretty ****ing stupid.

Nah. I watched Wiggins probably 4 or 5 times before that. I kept waiting for him to show me "best prospect since LeBron" but he wasn't even Michael Beasley good in college. That said, I'm sure he'll make a great pro, I just don't think he has the "it" to ever be a great pro who is also a winner. I don't see the heart. Guys with heart don't shrink to that level on that big of a stage. That was one of the most gutless performances I've ever seen from a "superstar prospect" in my life.

and I did confuse Tyshawn Taylor with Elijah Johnson. You're right. That was embarrassing. Hopefully it's because after that Michigan embarrassment I tried blacking Elijah's name from my memory. That was Bill Buckner'esque.

as for Tom Brady being past his peak ...

dude is the same ****ing QB he was in 2007. What part of his game is on the "decline"?

Right. He was doing the same thing he accused me of doing...being disingenuous. His injury that's kept him out for this season is completely unrelated to the "injury" that kept him out of the tournament. It's amazing how quickly the back injury to a 7' player healed, though. NBA scouts sure weren't concerned about it...

Wow, 4 or 5 college games...who knew we had a real expert in our ranks? Maybe you even managed to see a couple of his TWolves game too.

Expecting him to be the "next LeBron" (possibly the greatest basketball player ever) was always a ridiculous expectation. Beyond that, being disappointed with what he was in college displays a gross misunderstanding of the limitations that Self's system places on wing players.

I don't know, maybe the fact that he can't throw the deep ball to save his life and that his arm is nowhere near what it was when he was at his physical peak?

he can't throw the deep ball? Or he no longer has Randy Moss? I see the same ****ing arm I've always seen. You're dead wrong on Brady.

...and yes, 4 or 5 Wiggins' Jayhawks games. That's it. Including his aforementioned 41 pointer against WVU. I have no doubt he is talented and I also have no doubt he has a ton of room to grow (physically he's not a full grown beastly man like LeBron was at 18/19).

is that supposed to excuse the fact that, ON THE MARCH MADNESS STAGE (which is still bigger than any stage he's been on including any NBA game he's played thus far), he turned in the biggest joke effort I've ever seen. He was the most talented player in that game and he didn't try to exploit anything. He decoy'd himself. He didn't care if they won or loss. It was an embarrassing effort for a superstar talent. Jabari Parker did the same thing for Duke.

That puts up big red flags in my mind. That is a BIG ****ING STAGE and BIG ****ING PLAYERS usually step up in BIG ****ING GAMES.

See Curry, Steph.

No, he just can't throw the deep ball as well as he used to (and I'm not the only one who sees it: http://nesn.com/2014/10/scout-tom-br...rt-yardage-qb/). This is obvious, his arm is just not what it was. And again, I stress that doesn't mean he's not still very good. Denying that he's past his peak makes little sense, though.

I've watched a few world cup cricket games this month and gotten familiar with some of the players too. I suppose the next step is joining some cricket forums and making broad, ridiculous, baseless proclamations about them.

Once again, it's still just one game. But Wiggins played within the system (a system that did not effectively make use of his skill set). And he was a smart enough player to do as his coach asked and never went outside it. If you want to blame anybody for the Stanford loss/performance, blame Self's stubbornness in holding to his system in a game where it wasn't working.

See Curry, Steph.
Funny because Curry shot a terribly inefficient 9/25 against Kansas in 2008 (although some credit has to be given to KU's elite defense). Had he been good at all, Self likely doesn't have a national championship on his record.

Curry almost single-handedly beat that KU team ... to the point where he chucked up a 3 from about 40 feet at the buzzer and as it badly missed Self shook his head in total relief and you could tell he was just amazed by Steph Curry

And yet more evidence that you don't know much of anything about KU basketball. Curry didn't take the last shot, he was doubled by Self and forced to pass off to someone else.

I should also add that you sound like the people you admittedly hate who say Kobe almost singlehandedly beat teams while scoring 25 on 10/30 shooting and bricking a buzzer beater.

Well it can be pretty nerve wracking when your entire season and a FF berth rides on some kid named Jason Richards missing a 3.

I think I was actually rooting for Davidson that game ... I was pretty enthralled with Curry. Takes a lot for me to cheer against KU

You're really comparing Curry's supporting cast at Davidson to Kobe's teammates on the Lakers?

This is a guess but the relief on Self's face after the Davidson game might have had as much to do with making his first Final Four as it did relief that white kid missed a shot.

No, the drawn parallel has nothing to do with their teammates. Kobe had similar games back when the Lakers were winning championships, though. For example, he went a horrific 6/24 in game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals against the Celtics, a game they won primarily due to their defense and Gasol/Artest. Of course, the narrative after the fact was that he led the team to victory in that game (a narrative with Kobe that Hootie has raged against in the past).

I'll give the guy credit. He's done way better than I anticipated. Now it's not like he's running some magical X's and O's system. All he had to do was guy 9 guys that are superstar to starter quality buy in and play hard. Monumental task. And he's done it.
