I actually generally like the prequels as far as the plotlines and CGI and such. I just don't like a few of the sideplots, actors and character development, I guess.
I agree. The overall story of corruption in the prequels, to me, is really cool. The Jedi are "arrogant" (as Yoda stated) and corrupted, the Senate is corrupt, the Chancellor a master manipulator with a hidden agenda, and Anakin is a pawn.

For me, it makes Anakin's turn back to the "Light" side of the Force even more powerful in ROTJ. He's standing there, looking at his Master, killing the son he never knew he had, trying to decide what to do.

He fulfilled the prophecy: He helped to destroy the Jedi and the Sith, bringing "Balance" to the Force.

And yes, HC was awful. I don't know if we'll ever understand why he was chosen to be Anakin but it was the worst decision that George Lucas made in his entire career.

That's a really good point that blew right by me for some reason. He ****ed over the Council and the Sith. That makes Darth Emo's fascination with him much more interesting to me.

As I was watching the new one I was bobbing along and took the whole "Imma gonna finish what you started" thing meaning that Darth Emo looked at Darth Vader's final act of killing Palpatine as a failure. It gets more interesting if Darth Emo's plan is really just to unleash chaos.

For me it would be really fun if Darth Emo's viewpoint was: **** the Council, **** the Empire, **** the Republic. It's all corrupt and evil. He's just going to train and use every asset available to him to become as powerful as he can be to eventually wreck every form of intergalactic government that exists. He's not so much evil, he's an anarchist and he's waiting to grow strong enough to burn it all down.

Han and Leia both indicated that he'd been manipulated and twisted by Snoke, who apparently has been around for a long enough time to have seen the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire (which also indicated to me that he's the Grand Inquisitor - Not a Jedi or a Sith but a Dark Force user).

If Snoke is the Grand Inquisitor, he knew Darth Vader and because of that, he could twist the stories to fit his ambitions, making it quite likely that Ren truly knows nothing about Darth Vader except for what Snoke has told him.

I was thinking that with Han and Leia as his parents and Luke as his teacher (at least for some amount of time) that he would have heard a lot about Darth Vader from them. Or maybe they hid that from him? But, yeah, you still have to account for what Snoke has been feeding him. I don't know how much impact he would have had from the three sources to guide his vision of Vader (parents/teacher/mentor) but...he is with Snoke. So it's reasonable to assume that whatever Snoke has been feeding him is what he's buying. I just like the idea of Darth Emo going full on renegade against everyone. Moving from "evil" to "chaotic."

It would make him a more interesting character to me, I guess. For him to have his own agenda and to just be using everyone around him.

I binged on Rebels this week and I can support the theory that the GI is Snoke.

Stopping a laser beam with minimal concentration is pretty advanced.

We never saw Vader, Yoda, or any of the Darth's do that...

So you just brought up a gigantic plot hole; how is it that Snoke knew of Vader and was able to warp Ren's view of the Force and the Dark side without ghost Anikin coming to his grandson with some sort of warning from the other side? I mean how can Obi-Wan appear to Luke to tell him the Leia is his sister but Yoda, Obi-Wan and Anikin are absent?

Or perhaps I am reading too much in to this?
