This thread is going to be fun once Smith's fate is decided. There will be a lot of crow to be served whichever way it goes. We have a lot of people believing that he will fetch a round 2 pick, maybe more. Then we have Rausch and others thinking that we w1ll be lucky to get a 7th round pick. Others are saying that he stays a Chief. I just as well voice my opinion. Who knows, maybe I will eat crow. I believe that a 7th round pick is just as laughable as a 1st round pick. I mean, King Carl got a 5th out of a done Trent Green when everyone knew that we would cut him. Injury prone Sam Bradford got a 1st out of the Vikings with Carson Wentz ready to take over. What did Jerry Jones give for shitty Matt Cassel when Romo went down? And Rausch thinks that Smith will only get a 7th??? I'd bet everything I own that he brings more than that. I seriously doubt that he brings a first. I hope for a second, but I expect a 3rd and a player or another pick. The Chiefs would be better off just keeping him and let him walk after next season, then get the 3rd round comp pick. A 7th

Don't give up yet. Sometimes when the ducks won't do it the first time all it takes is another sqwak to get them to spin back around and land.

Alex Smith will never have a higher value than he does now. If the Chiefs don’t trade him, it will signify just how bad the perception of Alex Smith is around the league.

They're not challenging for the Super Bowl with him. They couldn't do it in 2015 and 2016 when the team was a lot better. They're not going to do it next year when the defense has a less talented array of starters, not to mention a defensive coordinator who has seemingly gotten dumber as the years have gone on. Mahomes doesn't need another year on the bench. So START HIM. This isn't at all about whether or not Smith can maintain his level of "just good enough to choke in the playoffs." This is all about what's best for Mahomes. Smith is a hindrance to the team if he stays another year as the starter. Plain and simple. He'd still be a hindrance even if he cost half as much and didn't fetch us any draft picks. Smith is standing in the way of greatness. So he must be removed by whatever means necessary. End of story. |
