With the new rollover provisions there is never any benefit to front-loading a hit as you can roll unused space over into the following year without any penalty. So by saving $5 million on Grubbs base salary and freeing up that $5 million, we simply carry it into 2016. There was no reason to accelerate the hit into 15 when the rollover allows you to forward pay it for '16.

because we have several guys that can play it and we don't know who is going to end up where.
If we keep Grubbs then Morse/Allen might compete for RG instead of LG. If we don't sign a RT then Allen might move out to RT, but he might move to RG. Reid was far better at RG than RT, so he might be there too. LDT vs Reid vs Morse vs Allen I realize that you're an expert at everything in the world. That you can sit in on the coaches meetings for the Chiefs, but we don't know what our Oline chart is going to look like next year yet.

we'll see what happens. I doubt the Chiefs cut Grubbs unless they really did plan on using this rollover provision.

agreed, it's why i listed guy to compete
we have no idea who is going to be on the roster or who is going to play where yet. I don't think the Chiefs will pay to keep Allen unless he is cheap and after what he said about playing one spot and being on a SB team, i imagine he's gone. Depends on so many factors that we just don't know yet

We have a good foundation with 5 OL. Add one more starter and then a backup in the mid rounds.
The OL has the potential to be very good next year, and a big part of that is bc of continuity. |

I don't think there's even an average right tackle on the roster right now.

Pretty good article if you want to look at numbers.
I'll just quote some of the stuff that I found interesting. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/nfl...e56257640.html A look at the Chiefs’ top free agents RE: Hali Quote:

Transition tag is a good idea for Howard, but I'd be surprised if him or Smith didn't take a high contract with other teams
