Will the Big X be left out of the playoff again this year?

The Big X as we know has been hamstrung by not having a conference championship game and by only having 10 teams, and with Baylor's loss this weekend, the Big X now has only one undefeated team left - Oklahoma State, who is due to face two top 10 teams in the next two weeks.

Will the Big X be without an argument to put a team in the playoff again this season, when they end up with multiple 1-loss teams and no way to differentiate them?

Big 12 wasn't left out, as it turned out, but maybe they should have been? Good lord, Oklahoma. Embarrassing.

Guess some of the Big 12 homers on here will have to settle for watching QB less Alabama battle Clemson for another title . . . . .

I was pulling for Oklahoma and thought they'd compete a lot better than they did, but honestly the Big 12 is one of the weaker "power" conferences. Big 10 (excluding Ohio st) was very overrated this year. And as with every year Notre Dame is always overrated and always get their @ss kicked in bowl games they shouldn't even be in.

SEC gets a lot of hate from Big 12 and Big 10, but it comes from a lot of over exposure and ball washing by the media. But theres no doubt they are the best conference.

Stanford bailed them out by handing a loss to Notre Dame, there's no way they would have taken a questionable Big X team over Notre Dame.

Stanford had two losses this season, and losing by two points to Oregon wouldn't have cost them a playoff spot - you could just point to OU losing to Texas, and Stanford's schedule being significantly tougher. What kept Stanford out was really the week 1 loss to Northwestern. Clearly they are a different team now, but losing the first week of September can break your title hopes.

Maybe they should schedule weaker teams in the non-con, it didn't do them any favors this year, who knows. But it's obvious that the highest quality fourth would have been Stanford and not Oklahoma.

Stanford's week one game also started at 9 am PST since they were playing at Northwestern. The Pac12 likes to play tough OOC games unlike the SEC and they play 9 conference games so you are only missing two teams a year so you don't have an Iowa or Florida this year that didn't play the majority of the conference's powers.

The SEC doesn't play tough OOC games? Interesting. The SEC played:

North Carolina
Louisville (x2)
Arizona State
Bowling Green
Wisconsin
Toledo
Oklahoma
Texas Tech
BYU
Clemson
Florida State

But Stanford took on mighty Northwestern (lost 45-6 to Tennessee yesterday).

Well, you can credit them for scheduling a major conference team for the out of conference slate, they could be scheduling MAC teams or whatever, but in the end, did it help them? Tougher scheduling might be admirable but if they'd scheduled and pummeled Akron they'd have been in the playoff.

Pac 12 played:

Nevada (Bowl team)
Texas A&M (Bowl Team)
New Mexico (Bowl Team)
Michigan State (Bowl Team)
Northwestern (Bowl Team)
Notre Dame x2 (Bowl Team)
Boise St (Bowl Team)
Michigan (Bowl Team)
Utah St x2 (Bowl Team)
Georgia St (Bowl Team)
BYU (Bowl Team)

2016:
Hawai'i x2
Minnesota
Colorado St
Kansas St
BYU x2
Alabama
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
Michigan
Nebraska
Texas
Boise St x2
Notre Dame x2

This is with the Pac12 only playing 3 OOC games for each team instead of the 4 in the SEC.

This is why you're witnessing the death of the sport this bowel season.

It's just not important outside the South and in the South the numbers are so small and low income that the rest of the nation simply don't care about college football.

You're seriously touting a game against Georgia State? That SEC slate is MUCH tougher than the PAC's...it's not even close.
