Why do black people cross the street so slow?

I live in north Scottsdale/PV area which is not diverse. I am the first to admit I don't get inner city. On several recent occasions I've had to drive down town for business. Every time I have, including today, I've had to sit at a light waiting to turn because a black person deliberately walked as slow through the intersection as they could. Other people walked by them at a normal pace but they just sauntered. On one occasion the person looked at my car and actually slowed down even more.
What the hell? Am I imagining this or is this some kind of thing?

Why are white men racist? Why did they create Jim crow and lynching? Why do white men belong to more hate groups than any other race ? Seriously?

Some people at the bottom of the power structure will do anything to feel even a hint of power -- even if it is nothing more than the power to annoy and inconvenience others.

When I lived in San Francisco, i would lay into my horn until they got both feet on the pavement, the same as I did with all the Chinese women who pretended not to see you while you are waiting at a green light for them to finish crossing, but watch them about to miss a bus and they will sprint two city blocks faster than Jamaal Charles.

Almost all the drivers were sheep who just tolerated all the lawlessness. Not me. I would lay into my horn with a long blast at the slow pedestrians trying to cheat me out of my light cycle. Some used to about jump out of their skin from shock, because they were used to all the sheep just silently taking it.

The only consequence I ever suffered was when A homeless jerk kicked my truck bumper for honking at him for holding me up at a green light by slowly shuffling across the intersection. After he got to the sidewalk, I just gunned the motor and shot forward and then hit the brakes. I wasn't even aiming at him, but he leaped straight up like a cat. I just yelled, don't mess with a guy in a 4000 lb weapon. I left him fuming.

I am no tough guy. I was just a guy who had my fill of shit from ill mannered, selfish, inconsiderate city people and came to the point where I wasn't going to just take it anymore.

This is ****ing reeruned. They are pedestrians. You are in a car that can go 100+ mph if you wanted. Is waiting 10 seconds for someone to cross such a big deal? Get some ****ing perspective.

As long as they are legally crossing the street, it doesn't matter. As soon as they are jaywalking, they are nothing more than common criminals and need to be treated as such.

Ha! You live in Seattle where people are polite.

Try driving in downtown San Francisco. Here is a hint of what it is like.

I'm sitting at red light waiting to turn right.

Cross traffic has a green light. By the time my light turns green, I can't move. Why? Because the cross street backed up into the intersection.

Eventually it clears, but I still can't move because even thought I have a green light, the pedestrians on the sidewalk next to my car do too. They flood the cross walk, and keep pouring into the cross walk long after the little white hand disappears, which means, don't enter the crosswalk if you haven't already started.

By the time they will have emptied the crosswalk, I have a red light, and the cross traffic has a green light and is refilling the intersection, again backing up in a line in front of my car before I get the green light again.

You can go through 3 or 4 light cycles before you get the chance to move, unless you just push your way slowly into the stream of pedestrians in the crosswalk toward the end of their light cycle.

If you haven't commuted through downtown San Francisco in rush hour, then you know not of what you speak.

Beyond that, it is a simple principal that if everybody does what they should when they should, then vehicle and pedestrian traffic all flows the best it can. When the lawless start breaking the rules, walking slow in the intersection and making the driver miss his light cycle.

It is one thing to have that happen once or twice a year. It is something else to have this happen daily on your downtown commute.

Don't lecture me. I lived this insane shit for 12 years. An hour and a half to commute 19 miles home each night.

"We, the people." It is a very eloquent beginning. But when that document [the Preamble to the US Constitution] was completed on the seventeenth of September in 1787 I was not included in that "We, the people." I felt somehow for many years that George Washington and Alexander Hamilton, just left me out by mistake. But through the process of amendment, interpretation and court decision I have finally been included in "We, the people."

If you're in a metropolis like SF and have to commute through downtown and it's taking you an hour and a half then you're doing it wrong. Put your tax dollars to good use and use the light rail/bus/etc. It's more understandable if you're honking at crowds of people though, I guess. If it's just a single person walking across and you're raging because he's taking a handful of seconds longer then that's bullshit.

I asked because I do. I actually enjoy hearing your takes on mysteries.

What I've learned, though, is that they used ramps to move the giant stone blocks.

Would've taken them 100 years to build just one that way, a ten ton block up that kind of grade, then fitted PERFECTLY on top of the other, so perfectly fitted modern engineers look at it and wonder how?

Anyway, last post, some smartass will be along to snark all over the joint, I don't really care let them think they have the answers... the good news? its a subject both the left and right can agree on, so I do what I can to bring the country together.
