Would you trade Alex Smith for Colin Kaepernick straight up?

I would not. Alex is a better quarterback right now and does not have the off field incidents of Kaepernick

I'm pretty even keel after wins and losses - because they really don't matter anymore. Hard to get excited over a win in October when you've proven over 20 years you can't win when it matters most. I went to two games this year - mainly to spend time with some good friends. We won one, and lost one - and my attitude was no different after each game.

When this organization can start winning regular season games AND playoff games, it'll be a lot more "fun".
That would kind of suck. I'm sorry. I hope I never feel that way. The Chiefs and NFL in general would would be uninteresting to me.

If the answer is yes, that the end ruined to whole season, and, I'm not saying it's wrong, I then understand how you conclude that the last 20 years have been no fun, and nothing but failure. That's just not the way I see it.
Nothing wrong with your way of looking at things either. Your choice to be a fan.

To answer your question, yes - if you can't back up your regular season "success" with at least a playoff win - when the goal is a Championship - the season was a failure in my eyes.

What's the difference between going 4-12 and going 11-5 and losing in the WC Round?

Nothing but draft position.

When/if they ever prove they can take that "next step", it's very possible that my opinion changes on this subject.

I used to watch every single game, every year.

Then I realized that there are better things to do with my Sundays. I still watch most games, but I multitask and often flip between games on Sunday Ticket.

If anything, I would say I'm more interested in the NFL as a whole, and less interested in KC.

My love of the game itself will never disappear.

And if you think about it, my love for the team really hasn't gone anywhere.

I just don't attend/watch regular season games as intently.

But I've attended the last four playoff games in person. I still want to be there when they throw the monkey off their back.

You keep saying "backup QB", but they clearly don't think he should have been a backup for the 49ers (neither do I, and neither does Andy Reid). You like to call him "backup QB" because it implies he sucks, but his play has proven otherwise. Must suck to be you.

I've been a fan since 1969, and I am not inherently negative about things they do. I don't understand how you can stand to live like that. All the negativity must make you miserable.

I mean, who wouldn't have fun traveling to four games, only to see a defense that never forced a punt, an offense that couldn't gain a first down until the 3rd quarter, a QB throw his team out of the game, and a defense give up a 28 point 2nd half lead.

And then having a 4 hour drive home after each game.

So much fun I'm getting chills just typing this.

It's been 30 years of free entertainment. And yea, I have been entertained. I've enjoyed most of my time as a Chiefs fan. I don't consider myself suffering under the oppression of the evil Hunt family that doesn't want to win. The only time I really haven't enjoyed myself was the end of the Pioli era, where I came close to rooting for them to lose, just so Pioli would get fired, it sucked.
Between tickets and Sunday Ticket, let alone all the merchandise, my fandom has been far from "free".

Furthermore, I don't think I've "suffered" at all and I certainly don't think the Hunt family is evil, nor do I think they don't want to win. It just hasn't happened.

I liken it to the crown jewel achievement on your favorite Xbox or PS3 game.

At first, you figure you've done everything else, there's only one thing left, that one last achievement.

The first 100 or so levels seem to fly by. It's fun. You psyched because you know pretty soon that you'll have that achievement.

About 150 levels in, you realize things have really started to slow down. You start spending some of your free time playing other games because in long spurts, the game is actually kind of boring.

At about level 175 it hits you - if you want to get that achievement, you're going to have to play the game for at least 3 hours a day, every day, for next three years. It dawns on you that the game just isn't that fun. Waiting for that achievement just isn't worth it.

That doesn't mean I won't ever startup the game and play a few levels here or there. I just have a completely different perspective and thus a completely different reason for playing.

To be fair, I "gave up", for lack of a better term, on the Chiefs before last year. I was pretty much done during the Pioli years.

Last year was way fun while it was happening.

This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

I said "backup QB" because I was talking about 49ers fans mindset at the time of the trade.

At the time of the trade, Alex Smith was the BACKUP QB. That's not a dig, that's a FACT.

I think Alex Smith is just fine as the QB of the Chiefs and I think he's a top half of the league starter.

You don't have any idea what I'm about so don't pretend you do.

I read your shit every day. And that is what it is, shit.

Any one who says "if my team ever trades [insert any name here] I will stop being a fan" needs to find another interest. Football isn't for you.
