Alex Smith just wins!

Props for the QB who always finds a way to win. Things weren't going our way in the first half but he didn't quit and found a way to lead us to victory.

No.

Again, the team carries that dog-ass across the field as it puckers it's pink butt-hole into the sun in shame.

Smith was pretty awful the whole day. I'll give him a pass for the INT though. At least he was aggressive down the field and the pick was as good as a punt being it was 3rd down. Wish he'd attempt that more in similar situations rather than throwing a 4 yard pass on 3rd and long and THEN punting.

But, he also doesn't turn it over as much as other QBs.

He's a game manager, plain and simple, and he gives us the best chance to win on the roster right now. He sucked a D yesterday, but we can only hope the offense gets gelling as big games come here.

He misses far too many.

The thing about any other QB worth talking about who misses a big play or two is that they will also make more down the road.

Ask yourself why we're constantly complaining about insignificant drops that might gain 12 yards.. every team deals with drops and false starts.

RECENTLY?

Pocket presence has been the gold standard tangible for QBs since Montana found Clark in the back of the EZ, and it's probably the single biggest factor [outside hardware, obviously] that has put Brady above all other competition in his era.

Brady isn't half the pure passer that Rodgers, Ryan or even Stafford are, but pocket presence is off the charts compared to them.

Pocket presence has been a big plus for Smith up until the last few weeks, even if it made him a run-happy qb. Obviously if recent events have actually resulted in lasting changes to him, we need to look at that. But I don't think any major decisions need to be made on 1 1/2 games, with a sit-out in between, alone.

So I re-watched the game yesterday and taking the emotion and frustration I felt at the time out of it. Alex didn't play as bad on second viewing. He made some nice throws, some bad ones too and on 3rd down he wasn't taking any risks which is pretty normal for him. The penalties, drops and abandoning of the running meant there was very little flow to the offense yesterday.

The throws to Kelce/Conley were dark moments though.

Kelce wide open ignored - To me this comes down to decision making. You have your best RZ weapon running a corner pattern in the endzone a pass that has a very low chance of being picked. This is where I find it frustrating instead he goes for a short pattern on the other side of the field. WHY?

Conley Wide Open miss - People have questioned the play calling of late but this was a great call it was obviously spotted. They cleverly run the exact same High/Low concept from a different look and it works... except it is a poorly thrown ball.

I am not a lover or hater of Smith I just want my team to win, hopefully it was just rust from having missed the last game.

I'm still waiting for you to make your first post that makes the reader think. I don't think I've ever seen you write anything smart.

You might be a bottom three poster on this forum in terms of actual intelligence. For sure, you're a bottom three poster on this forum in terms of writing things actually worth reading.

Every team does deal with those drops, false starts, overthrows.....the problem for us is that a miss or mistake for those teams isn't as damaging for their offense as it is to ours.

True, but it seems that when Smith is needed the most, he doesn't get the job done. The deal is, he's not running as much as he used to - don't know if that's by design or if he's just lost a step - but with that element missing in his game this year, his effectiveness is skewed more heavily on his passing ability and there lies the problem.

I agree Alex did not have the best showing on Sunday and I was really frustrated with some of the play calling and decision making made, however every quarterback will have a bad game or two or maybe three throughout the year. Now I don't believe it's times to panick because you have to take into account smith suffered 2 concussions in one game two weeks ago.

Also those who claim Alex is not a good quarterback and ready to crucify him think about all those times he helped the team get into position to score or get into position to contend in the playoffs. He started his kc career going 9-0 and helped bring this dead in the water team from 1-5 to 11-5 last year and keeps on winning this year. So yes Alex Smith wins and he is consistent in doing so. Don't let a couple of bad games fool you he will get it together sooner rather than later.

This is true, but as per usual, this negative goes back to the typically conservative scheme.

No one is saying Smith played well.. but he doesn't usually miss the painful ones that he did last weekend.

Back to scheme, this team has one heck of a W/L record by leaning on the defense, STs, and handful per of decent offensive drives. Yes, it definitely highlights the missed opportunities on offense.. because with this scheme.. there are less EZ and deep shots drawn up. They need to do much better on this... or they risk the scrape-out, grinder games that we see too often.

The only thing I disagree with you on is the bolded part. Not that Smith ALWAYS misses those throws, but I would say he misses those as much as he makes them.
