Would you trade Alex Smith for Colin Kaepernick straight up?

I would not. Alex is a better quarterback right now and does not have the off field incidents of Kaepernick

It's pretty obvious that outside of Alex Smith, you have nothing at all in common with them.

You don't think having been a fan through all the losing the Chiefs have done has made you inherently negative about the things they do?

EDIT: I think where we disagree is on how we might react to future moves. I don't think our perspectives are all that different.

How long have you been fan? I'm asking in all seriousness because I think there's a difference here in perspective.

That's weird.

You deleted the post I quoted and posted the same thing again, after my quote.

I agree with the edit you added.
I know with absolute certainty that I will not, regardless of how negatively I view the moves that this team makes, lose my passion for the team.

I do almost wish I could walk away.

30 years or so.

I don't think you reach these limits suddenly, but my perspective has always been, I'm a fan that doesn't have season tickets, I don't really put any money into the team at all. It's been 30 years of free entertainment. And yea, I have been entertained. I've enjoyed most of my time as a Chiefs fan. I don't consider myself suffering under the oppression of the evil Hunt family that doesn't want to win. The only time I really haven't enjoyed myself was the end of the Pioli era, where I came close to rooting for them to lose, just so Pioli would get fired, it sucked.

I think it's harder to be a Royals fan, where there has been no success for close to 30 years, but I admire those that never give up on them.

I'm not sure where there's been any success for the Chiefs either. One trip to the AFCCG in nearly 40 years. Not a single playoff win in 20.

Guess it depends on your definition of success.

To me, there's not much if any difference between wining 4 games and winning 10 and getting bounced in the 1st round. This team could go 16-0 for the next five year, but if they can't win a playoff game, what's the point?

I see the difference. You didn't enjoy any of the playoff seasons? I know you look back with disappointment, but as they were happening you weren't having fun?

Oh yeah - I had an absolute blast watching the last four playoffs losses in person.

I mean, who wouldn't have fun traveling to four games, only to see a defense that never forced a punt, an offense that couldn't gain a first down until the 3rd quarter, a QB throw his team out of the game, and a defense give up a 28 point 2nd half lead.

And then having a 4 hour drive home after each game.

So much fun I'm getting chills just typing this.

Reread my post. I know the playoff games have been disappointing. I'm talking about the season. That's what most of being a fan is, is watching regular season games.

Eh, those are just coin flips.

Greatness emerges in your entire body of work.

Regular season games don't mean much to me anymore. This organization has sucked the life out of them.

I'm pretty even keel after wins and losses - because they really don't matter anymore. Hard to get excited over a win in October when you've proven over 20 years you can't win when it matters most. I went to two games this year - mainly to spend time with some good friends. We won one, and lost one - and my attitude was no different after each game.

When this organization can start winning regular season games AND playoff games, it'll be a lot more "fun".

I guess to boil it down- Did last year just totally suck?

If the answer is yes, that the end ruined to whole season, and, I'm not saying it's wrong, I then understand how you conclude that the last 20 years have been no fun, and nothing but failure. That's just not the way I see it.
