Not sure the lure of the steambox.....I bought a refurbished core i5, pretty loaded for 400....loaded in a good video card, and bought an external hard-drive for video files and roms, etc.....
And wa la.....Steam box and XBMC machine..... I just like having the flexibility......

Yea those alienwares are just laptop hardware shoved in a tiny case. The value is definitely better building your own, but it always has been.
