Madden '17

Anyone getting a little excited? Seems like they have really made an effort this year.

Franchise mode is getting an overhaul according to recent news:

1. Full player editing while your franchise is progressing.

2. Coaching/FO decisions.

3. In-game ticker with live updates.

4. Practice squads.

5. New commentary team that will actually talk about things happening in your franchise.

6. Draft has been tweaked with more busts/gems.

Gameplay improvements:

1. Zone Coverage overhaul.

2. New ball-carrier special moves.

3. Real gap control on defense.

4. Real ball physics. In the past the ball would tether to a player based on ratings.

They also overhauled kicking to make it a challenge now. There's a new three-click system and weather/location will play a factor. Also, apparently on clutch kicks if the opponent "freezes" the kicker by calling a timeout the kicking meter will disappear and you have to make the kick by muscle memory. Kicks and punts can also be blocked.

How badly all of this shit is ****ed up on release remains to be seen but it does seem like they are making a big effort.

Man the practice squad is the best thing ever.

I literally just look for 21 and 22-year olds to shove on that thing and develop.

I generally don't like the 3-4. and I really don't like it in Madden.
my first order of busineess is to somehow switch to a 4-3.

So apparently, if you set the human fumble slider to 0....it actually has the opposite intended effect.

I'm guessing I'll finally make the playoffs in my third season after THAT slider adjustment.

With the Alex Smith trade I'll have three first round picks in 2019. Hope the draft is stronger at the top.

Top pick for the Chiefs in 2018 comes at #49. Slight reach, not a sexy pick, but the most physically talented OLB in the draft.
For all the shit you talk, in the end you're a true fan.

"Next year will be the year!"

"Linebackers and fat guys for the motha****in' win!!"

How you build your own Madden teams says quite a bit about how much you actually believe the shit you spew.

EDIT: YOU HIRED MARVIN ****ING LEWIS?!?!?!

Christ man, you're the True Fan aren't you? Like, if we drove a stake through your heart, all other true fans would just vanish into the ether.

It is really bad, Clay. You've really outed your inner lil Chiefy in this thread.

Off the top of my head, you passed on Andrew Luck 2.0 for a 3-4 pass rusher immediately after switching to a 4-3, which is essentially the Dee Ford situation in reverse.

You traded for a G on a cheap rookie contract and proceeded to move him to T while taking your $7m T and moving him to G. Now, in two years you'll have a guard making $8m per year and a T asking for at least that much yearly.

You signed a 33 year old running back to an $8m per deal in an attempt to establish a modern Martyball era.

All while essentially gutting the team of any of its franchise faces. Seriously, this team is ****ing unrecognizable and not in the good, post-Pioli kind of way.

Clay's first move should have been to find a QB. He failed at that.

Great first drive. DAT takes a pass down to the 2. Then on a toss, Charles is smashed and fumbles. Terrific.

Texans take over, and I stop them at midfield. Then THIS happens:

Jiminy Christmas. The Texans go on to score 7.

Fortunately, Charles is running wild and I get down to the 1-yard line again and this time Alex sneaks it up the middle to tie the game.

After a stop, CHARLES TEARS HIS ****ING ABS. JJ Watt sacks Alex and I punt, but a sack by Houston brings us to a 7-7 tie at halftime. I HAVE THROWN NO INTERCEPTIONS.

Texans get the ball and I stuff them. My rookie MLB gets a TFL, then Houston and Meeks combine for a sack on third down. Huzzah!

I have a brain fart INT, but the D holds and it's 10-7. I sure could use some ****ing points, and thanks to a long kick return by DAT and a catch from Kelce, I get a FG. 10-10, 2:02 left third.

The Texans answer with a TD drive. I get the ball back and after a great scramble, Alex Smith fumbles the ball away. THANKS DIPSHIT. THANKS FOR THAT BLOCK, KELCE. YOU ALL SUCK.

Then the ****ing UNTHINKABLE happens. Brock Osweiler breaks two ****ing tackles and throws a TD. 24-10. Stupid ass game.

I launch a desperation drive and get in the red zone, and then Alex Smith throws a lovely INT. Note that this was NOT my fault. The receiver was open. It's ****ing Alex Smith. Shitty ****ing throw. **** him.

The Texans then catch me in an all out blitz and their beast mode rookie TE ****s me hard. Holy shit. That guy is a stud.

Garbage time TD, Texans run out the clock, bla bla bla, game over. I outgain the Texans by nine yards and lose by 14 points.

You want turnovers, we got 'em, and only ONE was my fault. The other three are on Charles, Alex and ALLLLEEEEXXXXXXXXX

Game ball: DAT - 6 catches, 89 yards

Injury report:

Charles (abs, 2 weeks)
Maclin (elbow, 2 weeks)
Nick Boyle (ruptured disk, 6 weeks)

On to Cincinnati!
Not your fault? Pfftt. Your primary receiver (Kelce?) was wide open for an easy TD. Good Lord, do you just stare down your pre-selected receiver?
