While I'm not sure the booing made much sense at all (Butler shouldn't be in one of these over the players that were selected and it isn't normal to have a home guy), I do find it funny that the national media is coming to the defense of Cano like this. It has everything to do with him being a Yankee.

Which is why there's been precisely one guy represent the home team in the derby in the last 10 years, and he was the most deserving guy of them all.

Sorry that fans of 29 other teams would rather see Prince Fielder hit moonshots and win the Derby instead of throwing the home team a bone.

Butler has more homers this year than Fielder. 16-15. Yes Fielder is an impressive figure in this and looks like he may win it but that wasn't the point.

I still think everyone would be fine with Fielder in the derby if Cano hadn't said he wanted a Royal on his team.
