I had a little of the Sam Adams Summer Ale myself. I then switched over to the Sam Adams Honey Porter. It goes great with the BBQ Ribs I cooked up.

I love me some bloody marys now and again. I'd drink them more often if I knew how to make one 'lite". Please elaborate! |

I've been getting more into craft brews lately and trying some of the more expensive stuff. Tonight, I'm giving this one a try:
http://www.greatdivide.com/thebeers/oakagedyeti.htm One of the darkest beers I've had. The head even looks dark brown. Pretty good though - kind of a chocolate/vanilla taste with a coffee aftertaste. |

Lite Bloody Mary? I just don't put a whole 1.5 oz shot of gin/vodka/aquavit in the drink. I use about one ounce of liquor to 8 oz or more of bloody mary mix (and some beef broth if I've got it). I prefer gin or aquavit in these, as the taste of these comes thru fine without overpowering the drink. If I'ma use a lot of liquor for some reason I usually stick with vodka. Speaking of vodka...I'ma recommend Sobieski vodka. All rye, very clean, imported from Poland by the same fellows who bring in Belvedere. Still very inexpensive.

Tonite and tomorrow nite - chilly Vodka gimlets. Mix 4 parts vodka with 4 parts Rose's lime juice and 1 part water, I pour mine in a plastic flask, shake well and store it in the freezer (don't fill the flask completely, the water will expand a bit). After a few hours pour 2 oz or so into a martini glass if you got, whatever. Nice to have these readymade in the freezer waiting for you to get home on a hot day. Should frost the glass and put a nice chill on you.

To celebrate the SCOTUS Heller decision, another vodka gimlet and a small pour of 20 year old Pappy Van Winkle bourbon. God bless America.

Bought myself a smokestack series boulevard the other night. Indian Pale Ale. I like it quite a bit. Cost about $8, but its a good beet to drink with some red meat. That is the first of the series I have tried. What do you guys recommend from the others?
