I think Roenis Elias is a damn fine lefty. Why wouldn't Ned take the opportunity to play Gomes in place of Rios last night - even though Rios drove in our first un with a sac fly? Is he "saving" him for the play-offs? Makes no sense to me.

Getting Rios playing consistent for his timing going into the playoffs. Gomes has been a DH and pinch hitter much of his career not much needed to pop off the bench.

Timely, since Ryan was talking last night about how this guy ruined the Mariners season.

Ryan just hates him because of his on-field antics and the way he wears his cap.

Here's the deal ...
Ned has to go into the postseason with one thought: Wade Davis. In 1 run games ... this guy needs to be available for 6 outs. At the very least, 4 or 5 if we get into trouble. Plain and simple. We need to push Wade beyond comfort. Sounds scary, but the Yankees are doing it with Miller and Betances and there is no reason we can't do it with Wade. Ideally, the only bullpen guys we need are going to be : Hoch (5th or 6th) Herrera (7th) Madson (8th) Davis (9th + any trouble in the 8th) |

Gordon needs to be in the #2 spot. He isn't doing very well in the #1 and I think he'll get better pitches in the #2.

how is Gordon not good in #1? Are we referencing his recent 0-22 and ignoring his past years of success ... or ?
