Is Phasma a Mandalorian? She's got the size and calmness for it.

On 2nd thought, Rey is probably not Luke's daughter.

If he's a Jedi, he's supposed to give up those worldly attachments, and he didn't walk away from being one since we know he tried to resurrect the order before they were massacred again and then he went into hiding.

A fitting touch by JJ to have Luke getting laid about as frequently as the hardcore SW nerds over the last 40 years.

The Jedi Order is extinct. While it's been revealed recently through comics and upcoming books that he's acquired several Jedi Holocrons and spoke with Obi Wan and Yoda, he could have taken his new Jedi Order in a completely different direction.

There's been some speculation that Rey is the granddaughter of Obi Wan, who clearly had an affair of some kind with Duchess Satine of Mandalore during the Clone Wars. Personally, I'd like that direction much better than being Luke's daughter because it would somewhat parallel Obi Wan's decision to hide Luke on Tatooine, protect him and introduce him to the Force.

It would be some cool symmetry, IMO, if Luke was to do the same for Obi Wan's grandchild.

That was the biggest flaw in the old Jedi Code: Attachment was "forbidden".

The prequels and all of the other related materials have really shown the Jedi to be very flawed, especially the members of the Jedi Council, hence their downfall and destruction.

One would think that Luke, creating a new Jedi Order, would try to improve upon the old ways but who knows?

Just saw it with my wife and kids last night, we all loved it!

Some will nitpick, but I loved the winks and nods to the original trilogy, and I really enjoyed the new characters. The actors and actresses are so much better than the prequels.

It was fun and entertaining for us, I can't wait for the next one!

If Rey is Obi Wan's grandaughter, why did Luke's lightsaber call to her and R2D2 wake up when she arrived? Seems like they were trying to make a connection between her and Luke there, although maybe it was meant to be misleading.

Who knows? But the lightsaber in question was in Obi Wan's possession for 20 years, so maybe that's it?

I like the Obi Wan angle too, and at least expand a little outside the Skywalker gene pool.

Yeah, nobody knows with who the wand's allegiance lies? Oops, wrong franchise.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not insulting anyone that enjoyed the film, it's just my opinion of it.

I wish I enjoyed it like many have!

But really, this movie was made with one general feel to it throughout....DON'T be a prequel movie, and it completely succeeded. It pulled the kid I used to be out again, and it was a great, fun movie. It achieved everything it set out to do - brought back the "feel" of the OT while showing us where the story goes from here.

Now here's the important part - Episodes VIII and IX have to, absolutely HAVE to advance the storyline. We're all caught up now, so let's see where this goes. If VIII is a rehash of Empire, then I will likely surpass McCloudian levels of disappointment.
