FWIW PFF had Allegretti as our best pass blocker on the OL in Baltimore. I think he did a nice job all things considered

Unlike Baltimore when we get up early we gotta keep our foot on the gas. We’ve seen sf come back from 2 improbable deficits already.
Niners have better weapons than Baltimore. Niners moved the ball at will (430 yards) on the Baltimore defense, except for 4 dumb turnovers by Brock Purdy. Hopefully the KC defense is able to force some turnovers as well. I don't think you're gonna totally shutdown the Niners offense.

But I also see way more vulnerability with the 49er defense than the Baltimore defense. Niners defense pretty much got torched by Green Bay & Detroit. If the Chiefs OL can give Pacheco some nice running lanes and give Mahomes time to throw, I like the chances of KC putting a lot of yards and points on the board against this 49er defense.

Depends on how the defense is playing. 49ers got back in that game yesterday due to Detroits mistakes.

The Chiefs are not letting a repeat get away from them a second time. Not with a healthy OL.

This team is driven by destiny. Oddly, I think they are more driven than a team that has not won a Super Bowl. Strange thing to say, but I think it's true.

The 49ers are just in the way.

I get doing that to Lamar because I don’t have any trust in that guy to play from behind. I agree we’re way better than Detroit or Green Bay on defense. But these are 2 games where they put up late points in a hurry. No matter how our defense is playing we have to assume that their offense is capable of putting up points in a hurry.

I agree. Maybe there was just a honeymoon period where their midseason trades covered up issues they had with Steve wilks. Because prior to those trades he was on the hot seat. And can’t help but wonder if the last 2 games are just who he is after that honeymoon period ends.

Wilks is a moron, he literally rushes 4 and plays zone, his idea of being inventive is having his DL run a stunt and do DL games, that's it.

If you really think they are going to do much against the Chiefs having a soft run D and playing zone ehhh, requiring Warner and Bosa to basically take over the game...good luck.

I admittedly did not watch much of the game but after watching the highlights holy shit. The 49ers defense looks awful. Couldn't get pressure on Goff, couldn't stop the run, couldn't cover the TE to save their lives. Receivers running wide open in the middle of the field.

This offense might score 30 on these guys

You watch the same defense I watched? The one that the Lions torched, the one the Packers should have scored 24 (easy missed FG), Cousins dropping newrly 400 passing yards on them without Jefferson?

That defense cannot stop the run at all. Jeez. Aaron Jones and Gibbs/Montgomery ran wild all over them.

We'll win but I don't think we'll score 30. Nick Wright made a good point in that we get a lead and then turtle up to burn clock and prevent turnovers, Reid isn't going to run up the score. But we've got Mahomes and Kelce and Rice and playoff MVS so we can score if needed. The defense will do it's thing and we win 21-14

At least we don't have to play another mobile QB. Purdy is the Liberty Memorial compared to Allen & Jackson.

I dug into the PFF grades on the 49ers. Yes, I know that grading system is mostly trash, but wanted to see what it said. I have 2 weeks to kill, so why not. Here’s my summary of what PFF thinks:

-Purdy is the 6th best QB this year (I wouldn’t blame you if you just stopped reading now)
-Every receiver and weapon grades out at least pretty well (no surprise there)
-Every RB has a really bad pass blocking grade (if true, Spags is salivating thinking about creative blitz packages for this one)
-PFF doesn’t like Kyle Juszcyk for some reason. Good pass blocker, but poorly graded everywhere else. I don’t get that one, but haven’t watched much of him this year.
-1 good pass blocker on the OL (Williams obviously) and 4 turnstiles (Burford their RG has a 27 Pass blocking grade out of 100 - sorry Lamar, he’s still higher than your Wonderlic)

-Ward grades out well (no surprise)
-Rest of their secondary is pretty average to below average
-PFF loves Warner (obviously)
-Greenlaw grades out alright. Other linebackers are average.
-They love Bosa (duh)
-Hargrave and Armstead grade out well as a pass rushers but terrible run defense
-PFF really doesn’t like any of their interior DL except Hargrave or Armstead. Joseph-Day is their third favorite and he has a 60 overall.
-Bosa is the only guy on the DL with even a decent Run Defense grade. Chase Young is second with a 63. Everyone else is in the 50’s or lower.

-Kicker and Punter are very average. Kicker has attempted the most PATs but the 27th most field goals. Rookie kicker with limited exposure. Could be key. 21/25 on the year.

Here’s my summary:

Elite level weapons on offense. One really good OL and the rest are bad. Could struggle with blitz pick up.

Decent secondary with a couple nice players. Star at LB and another really good LB. DL has 1 star and a few decent pass rushers but highly susceptible to the run.

Young kicker could choke if they need a clutch field goal.
