Kinda hard to believe that Schwartz could fall off the cliff so quickly, isn't it? Gotta wonder what's happened? Is it the "new system", and maybe he's not familiar with it yet? Could the disruption at guard be influencing his play in a negative way? Maybe he's just having a slump? Or, perhaps he just isn't as good as expected?

Frankly, I suspect expectations were pretty high, and he's certainly not met them. Just having a hard time putting a finger on what's happened to him as he sure seems to be playing at a pretty "meh" level (if not worse). Odd.

I don't know man. Lots of players will sign big money deal a new places and struggle off the bat. I know olines need to gel and have continuity. We haven the had that for quite some time. He could be trying to overcompensate for the loss if LDT or try to do too much.

That's not what I've seen.

I've seen incompetence. Missed blocks, missed assignments and a stupid penalty.

That's not indicative of overcompensation or continuity.

It's all on him.

Happens in all the major sports. Come in to a better team on a big contract and struggle early. Guys put too much pressure on themselves. Now there is no guarantee that this is what is happening, or that even if it is, that it will get better.

All excuses aside, the guy has been a disappointment and has provided barely, if any, upgrade to the position.

For $20 million guaranteed, no excuses should be made.

We'll see how they play tomorrow night against a highly inferior pass rush. The offense as a whole have been a giant disappointment with the exception of the 4th quarter week one.

That said, the pieces are there for this to be a really efficient and big play making offense.

Yup. Even took the Miami Heat games to gel and get used to one another even with adding LeBron then.

But you're missing the point: Schwartz isn't playing like LeBron James, he's playing a D League player that was called up the day the season began.

He's been JAG.

I'm not trying to make excuses. My point may not even be what's happening to Schwartz. Just saying that it does happen, and hopefully it's what's happening here. I have no problem with you holding his feet to the fire. I'm just saying that it isn't unprecedented that a good player struggles early under a new contract.

Wish I could argue this point with you Dane, but I fear you're correcct. His play to date has not been good. Just gotta hope that he settles down and starts playing a whole lot better. As I said before, it's hard to believe that he could fall from being, at minimum, a very decent RT to a JAG RT. Heck, he should be just now reaching his peak years.

I'm not missing the point. I was making an analogy of athletes signing for bigger money elsewhere and struggling right away. It happens.

He's been a Chief for 12 minutes and has played against top shelf talent the 3 games he's been a Chief.

Take a breath.

He will be just fine.

The first game, Schwartz and LDT were opening up lanes for Ware to run, and their protection was solid.

Since, Schwartz has struggled with his assignments, though his pass protection has been solid, with Alex running himself onto sacks on his side.

You can call excuses, or whatever the hell you want, but the fact is, he had been much better with LDT beside him.

I remember a play in Houston where Schwartz had his man and the center had a guy sealed and Reid couldn't figure out who to block and helped them triple team someone. It wasn't Watt but it caused a sack because Reid decided to triple team someone lol. I can't remember it exactly and I delete don't the game so I can't go back and search it. I don't think Schwartz has been terrible I think he's been adjusting to a new RG while LDT was out and overcompensated instead of doing his job. Just my take because like I said I don't study olineman.

So far he hasn't played up to his ability.

Good thing is at least we know he's capable of so much more...
