Baker is as good as he is for 3 reasons:

1. He works his ass off.
2. He's a smart ball player.
3. He let Greg Marshall coach him.

I watched Baker in High School and the player he was when he rolled out of Scott City is not the player he is right now. That's not to say he wasn't an excellent 3A Kansas Basketball player, but he was still a 3A Kansas Basketball player.

He's got some talent in the pipeline, including a pretty talented FR Class and what appears to be an excellent group of recruits coming in next season.

He might be one of the better MBB talent evaluators I have ever seen. Not only that, but kids get better in his Program. What a HUGE win for WSU, and I'm anything but a WSU fan.

Yep.. When you're at a school like WSU you don't have top coaches just begging to come there. If you can keep yours in house then you're doing a helluva job. And supposedly Bama offered $4.9 per. So while he did get a big raise, he could of been making substantially more

He's very close to making WSU into the Gonzaga of the midwest. I'm very happy to see coach Marshall remain. I was way more concerned about him going to Texas than I was Alabama since The Bleacher Report was saying he was "coveting" the Texas position

I was til I saw what Alabama was offering and then there was a report saying his family was going to visit there on Friday. Im was pretty stunned and thankful that we are able to offer 3.3 million a year. Now im fully ready for next year!

30 wins and a Sweet Sixteen visit. Not bad for what I thought was going to be a down year for them. With Marshall back for sure now, if both Baker and Van Vleet decide to return they ought to have just as good if not better team next season. All of those freshmen turn into Sophomores thankfully

Outstanding job by the University and Boosters to get Marshall to the elite $$ Coaching Level. He deserves it.

According to KWCH Baker and FVV have filed NBA advisory paperwork and have until April 26th to withdrawal.

At one point Baker was projected in the first. Not Fred though. They'll both for sure be back now that Marshall is returning

I would put it all on Self, you can't tell me he doesn't have control of the schedule and who they play.

Charles Koch, CEO of Wichita-based Koch Industries Inc., says he took part in the effort to keep Wichita State basketball coach Gregg Marshall here.

“When I had the opportunity to visit with Gregg, I encouraged him to stay at Wichita State,” Koch said in an emailed response to the WBJ. “He adds tremendous value to our community, not only by winning, but by doing so with character.”

Neither Koch nor the company elaborated as to whether Koch was among those donors who helped increase Marshall’s salary in a push to keep him in Wichita.

Several sources have told the WBJ there was a meeting of such donors earlier this week.

Marshall and Koch are close. Marshall told Grantland.com that Koch is the man he most admires. And Koch returned the favor by absorbing a bucket of ice water last summer in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
