Why Geno Smith fell in the draft
I've seen a couple other posts about this... but this probably deserves it's own thread considering how many hours we've wasted arguing about the guy. This is the first article I've seen theorizing why Geno fell in the draft. Time will tell whether it's accurate.

Great post by suzzer in #310. It shows how hard it is to get a franchise quarterback. Alternately, it shows why a team should plan to continually invest draft picks in quarterbacks. You're going to miss on a lot of them, so you have to draft a lot of them.

They're mostly oblivious to it though. They're like Monte Python's Black Knight. Or Frankie.

It also shows that teams need to evaluate them properly. Taking bust after bust will set your franchise back or keep it from getting out of the cellar. It's about evaluations and getting them right and then making the pick. Play the odds and take chance is a losers game.

I swear some of you guys will compare Geno to any QB we passed.
Sure the QB's we passed over had a few issues. System, small school, lack of experience. Those were a few "red flags" people had on them. Geno Smith has so many red flags that he could pass as the St Louis Cardinals mascot. I mean seriously what pros does he have? Accuracy and athleticism are the only real one's I can see. The kid is immature as hell, can't lead, he pouts, he's a proven arrogant punk, the stats proved his production was a mirage, etc. I can't remember a worse 1st rd QB prospect in recent years. And you think the Chiefs are morons for passing on him? What about the other 31 teams who also passed on him? Face it. He's not a good QB prospect and we did the right thing his year. As for Bray, no I don't think he is the QBOTF, but taking a guy w problems where we did was a great move. He is essentially free and it's not like we're taking him above all these other great players.

They may suck, they may suck at drafting but it isn't because they didn't reach for shitty QBs.

though, I think it's easy to look back and compare to how things have played out to this point.
I think most people are angry that the Chiefs haven't even tried to grab a QB to develop. at least, that's the way I feel about it.

So we are still arguing about a 2nd round QB. Figures
Seriously though who gives a shit. The guy is toast. Aaron brooks tops. probably closer to Jim Drunkunmiler with the shit they will put.him through in NY. Im pretty sure the 250,000 posts we wasted on him before the draft were plenty |

We did. We got Tyler Bray. If we had spent a 5th on him a lot of people would have been happy. Alas.
