Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

you are going to be new to all the August training camp hype

let me break it down to you

Jon Baldwin will be jumping out of the field in shorts off trampolines making one handed catches

Dexter McCluster will look like the real deal

Allen Bailey will look like this monster

Peyton Hillis 1000 yards rushing!

Cyrus Gray is going to be a starter in this league!!!!

Tony Moeaki finally gets it! great one handed grab in shorts!

Jalil Brown looks like a legit NFL CB! He is shutting down Devon Wylie!

Kendrick Lewis misses practice in shorts with a broken vagina!

and now instead of Cassel "finally looks like he fixed his mechanics/the offseason training paid off" we will have Alex Smith "looks like a new man/has a chip on his shoulder/came to save KC! what a great guy!!!!"

Im so excited

Here is the full list of QBs who had a career-high 17 TD passes one season in their glorious lives.

Tony Banks
Quincy Carter
Jim Harbaugh
Eric Hipple
Neil O'Donnell
Steve Pelluer
John Roach
Randy Wright
Alex Smith

****, man. Even Gus Frerotte, Stan Humphries, Joey Harrington and Tim Couch had 18+ TD passes in a year. Even Jim ****ing Zorn had 20 in a year.

So maybe Alex Smith will be as good as Neil O'Donnell!

Alex had 18 passing tds in 2009.

Thigpen was a more productive player.

Thigpen 2008
11 games
2608 passing yards
18tds
12ints
386 rushing
3 rushing tds
1 receiving td

That's more production than Alex Smith has had in his whole 9 year career.

Sad

If it was to win the super bowl this year, i would be like, wow this was ****ing dumb. Its not. Its for your future, which with andy reid, and alex smith, isnt going to take another 4 years. you guys will be competitive this year, and your future qb can take over either next year or the year after. This isnt the first bottom feeding team that andy has been on, and not the first time that Alex Smith has left a team in better shape than when he got there. Again, talk to me in january. Ill still be here.
For a future QB to take over either next year or the year after, the Chiefs must take one.

Who are they going to draft in the third round that ISN'T a major project? The 8th-9th best QB in a "weak" QB class? Yeah, I'm sure that will blossom.

And if Alex Smith makes the Chiefs "competitive" in 2013, they aren't going to be in position to take an instant-impact, difference maker in the 2014 draft, who can start in 2014, unless they make a major trade up.

That's the biggest problem most have with this trade. It's not just the compensation or that Alex Smith is a bottom half to bottom third QB in the NFL. It's that it also took away any logical or likely chance to draft and develop a guy this year, and if they do the patented Chiefs 7-9 win season next year, won't be in position to get one of the better guys next year.

We've done this for 20+ years.

It's only a shock to the rest of the league...

The niners line is the best run blocking team in the NFL, they are very average at pass blocking.
