After reading the bottom line on ESPN, it appears Jax, Coughlin in particular, is not sold on Bortles due to the turnovers. Coughlin seems like a guy who would be interested in Smith. Maybe for a swap of 2nds. 35 for 59 and Smith. That's 3rd round value on points, and nobody looses a draft pick.

Then go after Romo and a draft QB, or Garoppolo. Do the due diligence on both scenarios. One or the other.

And don't say no to Garoppolo just because of Matt. Matt was Pioli's boy. Scouted him as a TE while he was at USC, became infatuated with making him a QB, and was hell bent on proving he knew what he was doing. Different situation altogether if Dorsey and Reid see Garoppolo as a guy who can take us to the next level.

If they do the due diligence and decide Romo and one of these QB's in the draft is the better option, then I agree.

I wouldn't expect our front office to dismiss a potential QB just because he is from NE though.

Can't speak for anyone else but I'm not saying no to Garoppolo because of Matt, I'm saying no because the Pats *should* be preparing for life after Brady and if he had promise they would hang on to him. Then again, Belechick may be out the door with Brady when the time comes and may not give a ****. Who knows, but I don't trust the Pats either way. **** dealing with them at all.

You know what doing due diligence REALLY means?

Do your research on rookie QBs. Find one you like. AND GO ****ING GET HIM.

Enough of this backup from other teams bullshit. Quit ****ing trying to buy QBs drafted by other teams who actually give a flying **** about the QB position and put in the work of developing those players.

I don't know why people don't understand that trading for backup QBs NEVER ****ING WORKS. Matt Hasselbeck and Brett Favre. Those are the only two instances in my lifetime of watching football where a young developing backup QB got traded to another team with the intention of making that player the franchise QB, and it actually ****ing worked.

Stop this nonsense. You're more likely to draft a franchise QB in the 3rd or 4th round. It has a far better hit rate than the alternative.

Google Garoppolo's highlights of the 2 games he played in this year. Very small sample size, but everyone or nearly everyone of his throws are shown. Nearly every single thing I dislike about Smith's game... I didn't see it in Garoppolo 's game.
