Madden '17

Anyone getting a little excited? Seems like they have really made an effort this year.

Franchise mode is getting an overhaul according to recent news:

1. Full player editing while your franchise is progressing.

2. Coaching/FO decisions.

3. In-game ticker with live updates.

4. Practice squads.

5. New commentary team that will actually talk about things happening in your franchise.

6. Draft has been tweaked with more busts/gems.

Gameplay improvements:

1. Zone Coverage overhaul.

2. New ball-carrier special moves.

3. Real gap control on defense.

4. Real ball physics. In the past the ball would tether to a player based on ratings.

They also overhauled kicking to make it a challenge now. There's a new three-click system and weather/location will play a factor. Also, apparently on clutch kicks if the opponent "freezes" the kicker by calling a timeout the kicking meter will disappear and you have to make the kick by muscle memory. Kicks and punts can also be blocked.

How badly all of this shit is ****ed up on release remains to be seen but it does seem like they are making a big effort.

The deal is done.

The Chiefs get a young athletic offensive lineman to replace Tardif and move him to RT (this was the plan with Tardif when his PBK got high enough). Schwartz kicks inside to RG, where his high PBK rating will prevent Alex Smith from getting smashed trying to throw 3-step drop slants.

The Tard and his 17 sacks allowed in the last 19 games moves on to Miami for a 5th round pick in the 2018 draft and 4th and 7th round picks in 2019. The Chiefs were ecstatic that anyone wanted that bum.

At 0-3 the Chiefs need to make hay against 2-1 AFC West leader San Diego this weekend.

Apparently Derrick Johnson, Dontari Poe and Jaye Howard were the keys to my 7-9 season last year.

PS - No Charles or Maclin for the first 3 games. Pretty rough.

Anyway, I'm not changing anything. For the first time EVER Madden is a challenge. I'm enjoying it.

I've played 4 games so far and I'm going to go ahead and concede that yes, it is an improved game that is a challenge.

Talk about pissing me off... Game 1, late 3rd quarter.

Charles breaks off a huge run, (I'm down by 6) for 60 yards. I finally find a group of really good misdirection running plays. I'm hitting them for 6-8 yards a play.
Of course, Charles goes down the very next play.
Out for 10 weeks with a cartilage tear in his knee.
Ware and West aren't elusive enough for those types of running plays, evidently.

Oh and if I don't dive when I send Smith on a scramble, he gets injured quite easily.

Week 5: Jets @ Chiefs

LOAD UP THAT OL BOYS. The Chiefs claimed a big fatass rookie RT off someone's practice squad. 330 pounds of **** YOU lining up at TE2. It's the Jets with terrible injuries (Decker, Wilkerson, Forte, Blount, one of their CBs and poor Case ****ing Keenum) and Christian Hackenberg starting. LET'S JUST RUN IT RIGHT DOWN THEIR THROATS.

HNNNNG! That's Jamaal's first TD of the year. See that big fatty on the right at flex TE? HE PLAYED LIKE 40 SNAPS.

The Jets fell behind 13-3 but threatened to make a game of it in the third...first and 10 at the Kansas City 41 now...let's see what happens.

PETERS MATHAFACKA. Playin' that sweet zone and just BEGGIN' Sackenberg to throw it over there. RED BALL! RED BALL!

The Chiefs took the turnover and drove inside the red zone. Would they blow it? Would they seal the deal and finally get a win...or......

YES SIR MISTER ALEX SMITH. No picks today, baby!

CHIEFS WIN 20-3! 1-4!

Game ball: Charles - 21 CAR, 138 YDS, 2 TD

The Chiefs ran the ball 41 times and held the Jets to 279 total yards. Marty would be proud.

On to Dallas, where pain is sure to follow. Probably just run it 50 times this week and pray Meeks snaps Romo in two.

UPDATE: GREAT NEWS. ROMO HAS A BROKE ASS THUMB. Bring on Dak Prescott.

That's a good idea with the DT. I might try that.

How long are your quarters?

Week 6: Chiefs @ Cowboys

ZOUNDS! The challenge looms. The Cowboys begin the game by completing shutting down my rushing attack. My defense holds, though. I get a pick off Dak Prescott.

With no running game I do what Alex does best: THROW THE BALL TO JAMAAL.

Sherman punches it in and I HAVE THE LEAD. It doesn't last though. It's 7-6 at halftime and the Cowboys dominate the third quarter. After a huge bomb to Dez Bryant, they go up 15-7. I get a field goal and a stop and it's crunch time.

I'm still not getting any rushing yards. I have to score NOW. GO DEEP ALEX.

You son of a bitch. If you could hit that we'd be ahead. Loser.

I need another stop. Let's see what Prescott does on third down.

MEEKS! YOU STUD. I have one last chance. Alex can't throw deeps so....SCREENS!

What a play by the rookie Agholor! He's got gettin' away from the cops speed.

Now it's Dak's turn. And Ron Parker sucks SHIT. Look at him just drifting around aimlessly back there. LOSER.

Ensuing possession, back in Dallas territory. Can Alex be the hero? THROW IT DEEP ALEX!

NOOOOOOOOOOOO. WHY DO YOU UNDERTHROW DEEP BALLS. I HATE YOU YOU PIECE OF SHIT.

SHOULD I EVEN GIVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE AFTER MY INCREDIBLE DEFENSE FORCES ANOTHER PUNT?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! ALEX YOU STUD!!!!! HE DID IT! THE SON OF A BITCH DID IT! Rookie Hillman is a STUD!

SUCK IT DALLAS

YARD MACHINE

Maybe I should draft Jackson Griggs. His throwing motion is IDENTICAL to Alex's!

Jamaal is getting pissy in contract negotiations. Maybe he should avoid getting caught from behind on screen passes.

A variety of bullshit has been happening so I'm just gonna drop random stuff.

Agholor got called up from the practice squad and went ****ING NUTS.

He was shitting all over the Redskins out of the wildcat.

Out of the I.

Out of singleback.

Charles is history. The Age of Agholor begins!

Meanwhile Meeks has won AFC Defensive Player of the Week TWICE in recent games. He completely obliterated Russell Okung in a 17-13 Chiefs victory, and has 11.5 sacks now.

Denver had only 186 total yards. The beatdown got so bad that the Chiefs knocked Paxton Lynch from the game with a brutal hit.

After an 0-4 start, the Chiefs are a game out of first in the shittiful AFC West.

anyone else having an issue on pro level with kicking?

I start the power meter, set my power, but in Pro level, it NEVER gets the power where I select it. it's always way off. Like, I"ll hit the X button right by the white line, but it shows where I selected it and the white line is only like 1/2 way on power.

doesn't do this on any other mode. I've tried it on Rookie and All Pro with no issues. But Pro, is all ****ed up on my system when kicking. to the point where kickoffs don't even cross the opponents 30 yd line. and I've missed a 35 yard field goal from a power standpoint // lack thereof.

I'm thinking you're doing something not quite right. I played my first couple games on all pro and never had a problem, (except maybe coordination/timing early on).

Check out this kids video and try the tutorial in the main menu maybe?

http://youtu.be/iGZFPT5ahPE

If it's none of this, something might be up either with the game our your controller.
