I gotta say, I'm starting to like the idea of Poe and Bailey on the sub rush stuff.

I'll say this, Romeo has a history of coaching well against Manning. Sounds crazy but it's true. We have some VERY talented bunch of players on defense. They're all healthy, and to think they're only gonna get better. That's some scary shit. Manning doesn't have the familiarity in Denver that he once did in Indy. Now, Manning is Manning and you're going to have to play your best if you're wanting to beat him because he doesn't lose often. He's a ****ing gamer. I don't think his neck will be an issue, although that doesn't mean something "could" happen, I mean he's had multiple neck surgeries FFS. But the docs say he's fine and he thinks he's fine so I'm taking that as everything health wise is back to normal. Manning is a marketing face. He's not going to risk his future and success off the field after the game is done, on a chance that his neck might not be fully healed and play in an awfully violent sport.

But there is an adjustment period that he will have to overcome. Now can we take advantage of that and the lack of weapons Denver has and beat them? I think so.

**** PEYTON MANNING. I CAN'T BELIEVE HES A ****ING BRONCO. DIE SCUM!!!!!! NOW IM ****ING MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!

What has it been? 17 years? Damn, no wonder.
Pioli did an outstanding job of a steady, conservative rebuild.

1. traded a 2nd round pick for transitional QB and LB to be the leaders on both sides of the ball. People bitch all they want but it was the safe and steady way to make a smooth transition. Pioli then replaced Vrabel and looked to replace Cassel. Although he hasn't be aggressive enough in replacing Cassel, but still.

2. right 53 to fix the culture of losing. people can talk shit and make fun all they want but it's the right thing to do. You bring in character even at the expense of some talent to make sure the locker room is professional and productive.

3. build through the draft. outside of the initial preparation shortened '09 draft, we have gotten good talent. Pioli has also steadily been more aggressive about getting talent and potential. Lessening up on the 'right 53' as the locker room improved.

4. screwed up by hiring Haley ... fixed it. I just wish he was of fixed it before we lost Weis. Hopefully DeBoll is good enough.

5. talent and depth with zero cap concerns. Pioli has built a solid and sustainable organization. Hopefully as soon as we get our franchise QB we will have legitimate Super Bowl contending type team each year.

what more could you possibly want?

If the NFL ranked teams after the first set of pre-season games KC would be ranked #1
IMO last night was about as well played a game by KC as one could expect. Great way to start the season off

I thought Powe looked better, too. But Poe is battling Toribio at this stage, not Poe.

Poe I thought looked alright. He's working on his technique, and the fact that he demands two OL at this point is promising.

I'd describe his performance as promising.

I thought Poe occupied 2 blockers but didn't seem to fight off blocks well.

Powe seemed to push the pocket back and get penetration fairly well.

It's not exactly what I was hoping for because Poe/Stanzi have more upside but game 1 Powe/Quinn seemed more effective and ready to play...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Powe also wasn't double teamed.

Yes, he was. In fact there was one play where he was double teamed and got deep in the backfield getting a hand on the QB. He came out immediately and had about 3 chiefs around him high 5ing and all joking around.

I'm sure at some point Goatse will have a gif of it...

Pretty much agree with all this. His biggest mistake was Haley and hopefully Romeo can be a mini-Bellichek.

Hes certainly improved the roster and depth x100 since 09. People just enjoy bitching.

The time he got the sack, I don't believe he was doubled.

EDIT: Actually I was wrong, went back and watched. He split the C and G, the guard gave a half ass effort as Powe bullrushed.

When he was singled up on guys he got good push and made some plays. Ran himself out of plays a time or two but got good push. When he was doubled he held his ground, but got stonewalled 2.

Good call to Rausch.

That was probably the most exciting start to a season that I have seen in a long time. I'm already excited for next weeks game to see if we can keep it going.

The offense is/was my kind of offense. Strong running game with the play action pass working well off of that. The way the line played, it looks as if we will be able to run the ball this season... which was a concern of mine. Cassel can play well when we can run it. It is when we can not run it that will be the key.

Many, many positives from this game from top to bottom. Very few negatives. That formula will win a lot of games this season if we can keep it up.

One thing that has not been talked about that I liked was that Baldwin appeared to line up primarily on the left side. I feared that in Bowe's absence that they would move him to the right side, and when Bowe returns that Baldwin would then be returned to the left side. That appears to not be the case. Big thumbs up to the coaching staff if that is indeed correct.

Great opening by all. Can't wait 'til next week!
