I like Austin. But I have concerns he can play a full 16 game season due to his size.

Bad teams need QBs every year. I'm not saying that it's impossible to think of a team making a trade for the spot, but Hootie's acting as if there's not a doubt about it.

Now, does one of those teams fall in love with Barkley or Smith so much that they're willing to avoid filling those holes? That's the big question. |

We need a bigger body opposite of Bowe. Im thinking Brian Hartline. Youe could still have the killer Bs with Brian bowe and baldwin. Move Baldwin to TE. |

No not a sure thing but it's a QB starved league and the other guys in this draft aren't NFL starters without alot of work and still they may not be. I think there's a decent chance someone moves up to #1 for Geno. I'd be glad to trade with the NFC teams. AFC teams have to pay a premium.

How are you being misquoted? I realize that you tried to change the interpretation, but you're not being misquoted.

I mean, the QB position is the one position you, AT THE VERY LEAST, need to win games. You can have the greatest team in the NFL and if you don't have a QB odds won't be on your side to be a consistent winner year in and year out in the NFL. You need that stability at the QB position.
I'll 100% back Andy Reid if he looks at this draft and doesn't see any real franchise players to take at #1 and decides he'll take the best QB prospect in his eyes and then develop him with his coaching staff while Alex Smith takes the snaps for the first year (or even two). If that is his master plan I props him for his creativity. I just don't think it's realistic. I lambasted Hamas in 2009 for, as I put it, 'ruining the integrity of the mock draft' after he took Sanchez #3 overall for the Chiefs when we all knew that was not a possibility after the Chiefs traded their 2nd for Cassel... so this new wave of optimism that has re-sprouted about Geno going #1 is just going to lead to another massive board meltdown. People just need to get over it (I will agree with Dane there). I'm not happy about the state of our QB position with Alex Smith. I've said I think he's somewhere between Dilfer and Green but that doesn't really give me hope we can build a team like New England (and I'm not talking about dynasty NE, I'm talking about the last 9 years NE where they were always Super Bowl contenders...that's what I want KC to build...not just win 1 Super Bowl in a fluke year like Baltimore did this year...I want to be in the mix year in and year out). I am, however, really happy about what they did today. They took care of our own and made them lifelong Chiefs. Or at least took a step in that direction. That's a good sign. So right now...I'm hoping they can recoup what they gave for Alex Smith by trading down and then I'll be on board. SOC made a statement about not "demanding certain players"...so if Reid doesn't like Geno he doesn't like Geno. He took the unpopular pick in McNabb once upon a time when everyone thought it would be Ricky Williams without a doubt and it worked out. If he doesn't see it, who are we not to trust him? This has been my argument for the longest time. We're not going to get every player we want every single time whether it's the draft or free agency. That's ridiculous. Literally, a SMALL percentage of draft-ites have Geno as the #1 pick/#1 prospect. Most of them are on this board. I know they are all "stupid", but to pretend that doesn't mean something is ignorant. It sucks we got the #1 in the year their was no clear cut #1 QB...but we're the Chiefs, it happens to us all the time. At this point, if we can trade down and grab a skill player mid first and recover AT LEAST what we gave for Alex Smith I think we'll be HUGE winners. |

Only huge winners if parlaying those picks back into getting a QB of the future and legit starters.
