A bust doesn't mean squat to a team financially anymore. WHERE you draft someone no longer matters, just that you are correct more often than not in your assessment of talent. People are gonna take the guy they like wherever they need to. You're going to see four or five QB's go in the first round of every draft from now until whenever just because there is nothing more valuable than a plus player at QB. And it means that Geno, with his mid first round grade, will probably go #1 because he's the best of the lot. |

It'd be interesting to see what these "experts" would have us doing if the CBA rookie scale wasn't in place.
Drafting Joeckel would cost us more than Albert. $70 million to a 3-4 DE would be monumentally stupid. $70 million to a part time OLB would be dumb. You can't trade down because no one is willing to give up the picks to move up AND pay that huge ass contract. You'd almost have to take a QB at that spot and pray that he doesn't bust. |

I think Albert's case is going to be simple. Cut Jackson's worthless ass, give Albert his yearly salary.

$7.5, right? So $21.5 million in cap space just by cutting Cassel and Jackson, although I would not be surprised if they restructure Jackson's contract and he's paid around $3 million per.
So, Albert, Bowe and Jackson for $21 million or so would be my guess. Bowe $10, Albert $8 and Jackson $3 or something similar. |

Do you think Hunt is ready to drop $50 million or more on two players this year? Furthermore, the money is STILL spread over the cap, so yes, you're essentially paying those numbers towards the cap each year. |
