Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

I'm not going to panic yet, I plan on putting a good 200 rounds through it in the next couple of months. I was just really surprised at the lack of accuracy. Thanks!

Let someone else try shooting it, if it works for them, then it might not be a good fit for you. If it groups for them it might be your stance/hold/sight allignment. If it doesn't work for them, send it back in.

The other problem I have is that the slide will not always stay open when the mag is emptied. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I'm told this is probably a problem with the mag itself. I think I'll call Taurus and let them know about all this. They have a good reputation and a great warranty, so we'll see what they have to say.

I used to be all ove the place with my XD; one day the front site came lose;
. took it to the range, and the gunsmith said he'd put it back at no charge. since then, it's dead on balls accurate. I'm not sure what he did, but I ove it. I wonder if the sites are off on your PT1911. speaking of which...that's the 1911 I'm eyeing; let me know how you like it.

What is the best 9mm round for home defense? I obviously want something that will stop and intruder, but don't want it over-penetrating and/or going through multiple walls.

Kepp,
I have some Hornady critical defense loaded in my 9mm, federal hst, winchester ranger, remington golden sabers all all good to go. Speer makes the gold dots, pretty much anything marketed as self defense ammo should work.

Heading down to the gun store later today. Assuming they still have them in stock and haven't jacked up the price, I'll probably buy that S&W compact today.

I think I'm okay as I only appear to be dangerous based off cosmetic features, I also only possess a standard capacity vocabulary and not one of those evil hi-capacity vocabularies.

I've used that in my 9MM and 10MM guns and it's good ammo.
Here is a test on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD6Re_Gwcwc If you want the stuff with the "extra smack" this is a great choice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1N13eqMDv0 Doubletap also makes a killer 9mm defense round for "extra smack": http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/cat...roducts_id=120

Just got back from the gun range at OMB Guns in Olathe. It was my first time there, and I like it way better than the Bullet Hole. You can shoot pistols and rifles of any caliber up to .50 BMG! And the range is heated, which is great for winter time.
I also bought two 20-round Colt AR-15 mags for $20 each. If anybody is looking for 20-round or 30-round Colt AR-15 mags, OMB Guns in Olathe has some in stock. I couldn't believe it when I saw an entire rack of hi-cap mags right as you walk in the door. They are $20 for the 20-rounders, and $50 for the 30-rounders. The price seems a little high on the 30-rounder, but at least they have them in stock. I didn't look to see if they had any other brand of AR-15 mags. I think I might go back on the weekend to pick up some more. Last edited by Munson; 12-29-2012 at 11:41 AM.. |

Newest addition to the arsenal of freedom:
I went in to the gun shop knowing exactly what I wanted - came out almost two hours later with a piece of paper. The crowds were getting so bad at this place that they enacted a line policy - if you're buying, picking up or just want to handle a firearm, you have to stand in line until one of the salesmen is available. I stood in line for over an hour, and then it took forever to get the paperwork done. And it seemed like everybody that was there was buying, not looking - certainly all the guys in line around me were there to buy. Sure sucked the fun out of going there. Felt like I was standing in a ****ing Soviet bread line. And what a difference a couple of weeks made - last time I was there they had dozens of ARs. This time, they had five and lots empty shelves, and I think at least two of the five sold while I was there. |
