So, I didn't see a thread started, and all the others are pretty maxed out to the point where a fresh thread would be needed soon either way.

Time to share the run up to ST & and another memorable year in the making!

I can almost guarantee nobody asked that one who sucks the penis to be a Royals "super" fan. It's just an easy way to jump on the bandwagon. What a ****ing dork.

I was just reminiscing with my son about Game 2 of the ALDS in Anaheim and how awesome it was:

-My son video-bombing the local ABC affiliate interviewing Angels fans with a thunderous cheer of "Let's go Royals!"

-Meeting Finny, J-Guts, Scott Downs, and Greg Holland (and having a chance to congratulate him on the baby) during BP.

-Watching Dyson gun down Cowgirl (yeah, it auto-corrected from his real name and I like it) at 3B.

-Watching Hosmer launch that absolute BOMB to RF.

-Chanting "Let's go Royals" with what was left as a majority of KC fans in our section.

-Going down behind the dugout after the game and watching the post-game interviews and telling the grounds crew that we hoped that they enjoyed their jobs because they wouldn't be needed again.

-Chanting "This is our house"

-Listening to the Angels' post-game show obituary on the ride home.

Thanks for the memories, Royals! Let's make more!!!

I've never been through a run like that with one of my teams. The only team I root for that ever really won a championship was the Red Wings, but they were always way good when they won. This just came from out of the blue.

My negative side, though...
I'm not sure if I can ever hve that feeling again. the shock, the magic, the weirdness of it all. It was so amazing, I don't know that any future run could compare.

I think what made that game so much fun for me as that over the years of living here, that stadium has been nothing but a Factory of Sadness for me, with all my friends and wife's family taunting me about how crappy the Royals always are and how great the Angels are.

That game, that series, just destroyed them and redeemed every minute of torture they've ever given me.

I even got my brother-in-law a broom for Christmas to remind him of it.

That was the beauty of it all. NOBODY saw it coming. I doubt the players even did.

I was 24 years old during the '85 playoffs. We expected to be good year in and year out back then. It was great to win it all, but it doesn't compare at all to this season. Other than game 7 of the WS, that is.

I was 16 in '85 and to me it absolutely compares - coming back down 3-1 twice, Brett's signature game, and of course game 6. My teams have had two great runs now in my lifetime - both Royals.

I become a golf fan towards the end of Watson's glory days. But there will still some good runs - including that horrible heartbreaker at the British Open a few years ago (still not over it).

Some very good runs include the Chiefs in '93, and KU's championships (since I didn't go there I'm not a true die-hard).

Oh yeah, and my alma-matter Blue Springs. But they didn't do squat while I was there and not living in MO anymore it was hard to get too into their state championships.

You may be right. Some of the memories fade over time.
