Bonifacio went around, by the way. There was clear 'intent to swing' there and he should've been rung up before the 3-run double, thus ending the inning.

On Monday there was a fair amount of complaining that the Royals didn't get a strike call on Fowler before things spiraled. Well the Cardinals had equal beef on the Bonifacio non-call and they responded how a team should.

I'm not puffing out my chest; as you noted - I damn sure didn't do anything. Note I didn't say 'We responded...'. I'm not 'we' in this equation, obviously.

But when there was a sizable contingent of fans on Monday who were pretty wound up about that call and the subsequent result, it's fair to point out the contrast between what happened there and what happened on Tuesday, no?

For whatever reason (probably shitty pitching) the Cardinals have shown a resilient streak over the last week or so that they haven't shown all season. I fully expected them to turtle just like the Royals did the night before. But they didn't; they answered back and loudly.

That's worth noting.

It's a small sample size, but I wonder if the recent propensity to actually craft a lineup based on who is actually performing has bolstered that renewed resilience. Piscotty going down for instance was unexpected, but justified.
