Merrifield reminds me a little of former Ranger Michael Young in appearance and hitting style. Upright stance, line drive stroke, sneaky speed, and somewhat similar looks (height/size/coloring).

Small sample size still, but I like it so far. Very surprising.

Ok...I'm still sitting here thinking about this crazy game. I'm smiling & shaking my head about it. How does this team win games like this?!

They lose two of their best players...doesn't phase them. Three of their starters are AAA guys. Big deal. Two of our outfielders wouldn't make it on a lot of rosters. Who cares. Our starter is a relief pitcher.... I mean what?!

This win just confirmed it for me. The Royals are back & the 2016 World Series is still in play.

I know that it is a small sample size and that minor league #'s are different than the MLB #'s, but if you look at his career minor league #'s, it's pretty solid. Only 2 seasons where his OPS was below .700. Other than that, it's been right at the .700's or higher.

It helps his value that he can play multiple positions.

Young came to the Negro Leagues awards ceremony one year and gave a great speech. Very humble. Always liked him after that.

I been champing for him for quite some time. I know his numbers isn't all great, but it is consistent. At worst, he'd be a utility player. And again, I know the sample size is small, but so far, he has done well.

Hell, he's OPS'ing .200 better than Infante, even though he has only played what, 7 games so far. And he just doesn't annoy me like Infante does.
