Herbie Teope@HerbieTeope-Chiefs GM John Dorsey said he's had "various discussions" with Eric Berry's reps. Berry is scheduled to be a UFA on March 9.

Honestly if Berry goes elsewhere I am not sure how I will feel about it. Mostly disappointed that he even thought of leaving after how last year played out. I would probably end up going from him being one of my all time favorites to one of my least liked current players. Just would feel like a slap in the face from someone who is disregarding all of the support that was provided by the team, fans, and city.

Who said offer him 5-6 million?

Big difference between not thinking he should get 10+ million and an offer of 5-6 million.

Honestly think we should resign Berry and DJ, but now that I think about it I almost would rather use Smith/Howard money on a WR or RT.

We still have a lot of defensive talent. We need more balance.

I really hope Reid realizes that Ware needs to be the #2. Charles/Ware could be what we thought we had with Charles/Hillis.

They need to plug Jamaal back in, but not force feed him when the defense keys on him so much. Call plays and execute as if he isn't in there and I'd bet that he will be back to making those 50+ yard plays much more regularly.

That's what I'm hoping.

It'll be nice to have him around as well because he's so versatile. We need receiver help in the worst way and he's good enough to double as an elite RB and elite pass catcher (RAC anyway).

Plus, at least one of these three backs will go down at some point or another. I'd rather not be down to our 4th string RB in the most important game of the season again.

If uou thought those jet motion sweeps to Dat got linebackers flowing, imagine them with charles.

If he comes back healthy and they can add another wr or two and or conley develops, the offense can be really interesting

Objective observations on the Eric Berry situation....

1) 5yrs/50m is a lot for a safety...but it would be getting the prime years of his career (27yrs old-30yrs old with the option on moving on after that if his skills erode.

2) Eric Berry really isn't a turnover machine and can be fooled in coverage (see: Brady pumping him to get Gronk open for his second score)...but he is about as solid as they come everywhere else.

3) KC has a nice safety group, even without Berry. KC already has Ron Parker under contract the next few years and Abdullah has already said he wants to return and he doesn't really care about the money. 2m would get him back. Sorenson played well and is an exclusive rights guy, so vet min. I'm sure Branch would be open to a return at a modest price. Eric Weddle is also a URFA and would love to sign with a division rival. My point is there are many levels of options readily available to step in if Dorsey decides we can't sign Berry.

4) I know nobody wants to mention it, but what happens if the cancer returns or he develops another type of cancer (which is more probable after having Lymphoma) while under contract? We're talking about 7% of the cap towards one player. That's significant.

I'm going to repeat that I'm in the "sign him" group...but these are valid points that shouldn't go ignored.

Nobody is wanting them to. 15 carries on the ground and various screens, jet sweeps, routes etc would be great.
