Ronda Rousey vs. Floyd Mayweather who would win?

Almost everyone agrees that if boxing rules were used Mayweather would win. No contest.

So here is the rules for our hypothetical fight:

Either no rules or UFC rules.

I think Rousey gets him into an armbar in the 1st round and its over.

I have no doubt that Rousey could beat up 90 percent of American males, or even 95 percent, but Floyd Mayweather is not going to be part of that 90 or 95 percent.

This isn't really true, though. The rise of MMA has been a disaster for traditional karate-style martial arts, because people quickly began to realize that all these legendary karate fighters were not able to stay on their feet.

The few karate fighters who make it usually have to get a blue belt in jiu-jitsu and train hard in wrestling, so that they could avoid submissions, stay on their feet, and use the advantages they do have. The only type of "traditional" martial art that has done fairly well without a lot of adjustment is Muay Thai, since they really focus on how to fight in a clinch, but even they had to start working harder on takedown defense. Rousey is the weird outlier in Judo.

If I did have a martial art that I'm a huge fan of and overrate on a regular basis, its probably muay thai kickboxers, I could watch that shit all day. That said, I think Jiu-Jitsu is on top, you can win without knowing much of the other styles, but everyone in MMA (except Rousey, I guess) has to learn some jiu-jitsu to be a serious title contender in the deeper divisions.

All of the guys arguing the point about inherent male vs. female advantage are overlooking the fact that she *has actually taken down MMA fighters in sparring sessions.* It's happened before. And this is against guys who are trained to avoid takedowns, not just boxers.

So, to say that it's completely impossible for her to take down a man is clearly wrong. The question is whether or not she could take down *Mayweather* in an MMA fight. I say absolutely. Boxing, she'd have no chance and would get knocked out with a quickness.

Anyone seen Mousasi and Ronda Spar? I'm not sure if Moose was still at 205 or if he was at 185 in this video, but I mean this shit isn't even close. She's trying with all of her might, and he's going like 5% with a smile on his face and it looks like a Father rolling around with his 6 year old son.I know Moose has some Grappling skills, but I mean I still feel like it reallly shows just how much of a Woman Ronda is...

That phrase goes hand in hand with the rise of mixed martial arts. People understood that one style to rule them all really wasn't the case, no matter what sifu Dan at the YMCA told them. And as popular and effective as BJJ is, most still study multiple styles.

The phrase tends to mean, "the better fighter is the better fighter, no matter what style they are using." And in this case, it's Mayweather by a mile.

Its not that he's incapable of learning how to defend. He easily could, but right now he doesn't know how.

edit: incidentally, thats a good example of why I'm not very interested in her fights. Rousey is very one-dimensional, if she can't throw her opponent, then she doesn't look impressive at all. I know she KO'd her last opponent, but lol Correia was bad.
I believe the last fight I saw of hers was the last Miesha Tate fight, and I thought Rousey's striking looked much improved.

well, if you put most world champion boxers in a cage against a top-15 UFC fighter who has a black belt in jiu-jitsu, I'm putting all my money on the submission fighter, unless we're maybe talking about a terrifying heavyweight.

I probably would too, but Rousey isn't going to win that fight either.

I have already talked about her grappling males her size but Saul wants to focus on her fights against women.

Also he can't throw punches from his back.

If you're an equal in weight fighting a guy with no ground game. I'd bet her all day long unless he comes out with a vid showing him learning how to sprawl worth a damn...

Who cares? The point wasn't to show that Floyd would do the same... The point was to show that she is still a woman and she is literally NOTHING to guy that is 3-3 in the UFC at 185 lbs... Literally nothing.

No way the male fighters around Rondas size like Mendes, Faber, Barao, Dillishaw etc would get tosses around like a toddler by Mousasi not even trying.

You keep bringing up grappler vs stiker fights, like couture, and Tony.. Well that other dude dude... This shit doesn't even come close to comparing lol.

He is highly skilled in one area.

She's highly skilled in many. She's use to using her feet, grappling, submissions, etc...
