Its kind of sad when your fanbase is so beaten, so mistreated, so used to being dogshit that you think a re-tread at best AVERAGE QB near the end of his pathetically sub-par career, is more important to your team then one of the greatest RB's, scratch that, PLAYERS, of his time, and maybe, all time.

yea.

Jesus Christ. People who keep harping on about how much Alex Smith depends on Jamaal Charles to help move the offense, and knock him for it, obviously have zero understanding of what Andy Reid emphasizes with his offense.

Look at what he did in Philly. Almost every year that Reid was there, the primary RB was either 1 or 2 in receptions on the team. Example?

Brian Westbrook in 2004 had 73 receptions, 2nd only to Terrell Owens who had 77 that year.

2005, without the star WR Owens. Westbrook tied for 1st with their TE, LJ Smith, with 61 receptions.

2006, Westbrook led the team with 77 receptions, 27 more than the next closest receiver.

2007, Westbrook had 90 receptions, next closest receiver was Kevin Curtis with 77.

Etc etc. Passing the ball to the RB is a main feature of the Andy Reid offense, it really has little to do with what Alex Smith may or may not be inclined to do. TEs are also heavily used in the passing game. This will especially remain true as long as our RBs and TE depth continues to be even slightly better than our WR core. The only time that Reid's offense slightly deviated from this trend was when he had very good to HOF level talent to work with at WR. (Terrell Owens in 2004; Maclin and Jackson in more recent years. Even then, the RB was still heavily featured in the passing game.)

That's because RB's don't win Championships. QB's do and defense. Anyone that thinks dumping Smith with the age of our good players is plain stupid. Starting one of our young QB's would be waste of their prime years.

Not sure this is the product of a beaten down fanbase.

This is the result of the shift to the QB driven league that this has become.

I agree mostly with that except his rookie year most kc fans would have run him out of town on a rail. All the fumbles and muffed punts. He worked hard and got better. His season leading up to the Xmas day game was outstanding and his day of days was epic. The following year age took a toll on o-line and he fell back to earth.

You do realize superstars like Kap and Wilson had 5 of those games last year too right?

We can play this game all day.

Yea except we don't have one of those QB's that's driving the league, which is where I feel the disconnect.

Does that count the people who told him to kick rocks?

I guess it does, since this is JC we are talking about, and that's the kind of guy he is~

Were I actually concerned about numbers, I'd point that those guys are going into their year as starters on run oriented teams.

But I've said it enough times that you should know this.

Numbers mean jack.

What about wins? And isn't KC a run oriented team or similar considering JC is the main weapon?
