Are you aware of how much the Redskins gave up to draft RG3 and Kirk Cousins?

Two first round picks, a second round pick, and a fourth round pick. Apparently Mike Shanarat thinks that stockpiling quarterbacks is more important than stockpiling draft picks to be used on lower impact positions.

The redskins did not give up premium picks for a stopgap

Why would a team with the worst record in the league give up multiple 2nd round picks(or a 2nd and 3rd) for a 1 year stopgap player?

How is 1 year of Alex Smith worth the 34th overal pick in the draft + a 2nd or 3rd rounder? Especially for a team that is more than a qb away from being a contender

I just highly highly doubt this is the strategy used by the Chiefs FO
We are not talking about a hall of famer at the end of his career trying to make one more run ala Favre and Manning
Just seems like way too much compensation given up for a player to then turn around and draft his replacement

The point is to pool together all the resources we have to find that great QB, knowing that if Alex Smith does his job properly this year, the Chiefs won't be in any kind of position to draft one of the top QBs in next year's draft.

Alex has got to be replaced at some point. Either that, or he needs to crawl up a tree, shit out and envelop himself in a chrysalis, and come out a few weeks later transformed into a beautiful magical franchise QB butterfly.

Something to remember is that the Packers did draft Aaron Rodgers when they had Brett Fafavre as starting QB. That is something Dorsey has mentioned during his opening press conference with us. This is very doable and makes Alex Smiff as a stop gap QB. I can live with it then.

Im sure Geno Smith or whoever would rather have someone like a Terrance Williams out of Baylor to throw to for the next decade than a one year internship under Alex Smith

Is Andy Reid unable to cater an offense to a rookie?
If he really is the qb guru then surely he can adjust the playcalling and game planning to slowly bring the guy along without having him get too overwhelmed

As you see in today's NFL rookie qbs can have success, they don't have to be redshirted anymore

These draft picks the Chiefs are giving up are potential 10+ year starters
This is just way too much compensation for a nonelite player for me to think he is only viewed as a stop gap
