Madden '17

Anyone getting a little excited? Seems like they have really made an effort this year.

Franchise mode is getting an overhaul according to recent news:

1. Full player editing while your franchise is progressing.

2. Coaching/FO decisions.

3. In-game ticker with live updates.

4. Practice squads.

5. New commentary team that will actually talk about things happening in your franchise.

6. Draft has been tweaked with more busts/gems.

Gameplay improvements:

1. Zone Coverage overhaul.

2. New ball-carrier special moves.

3. Real gap control on defense.

4. Real ball physics. In the past the ball would tether to a player based on ratings.

They also overhauled kicking to make it a challenge now. There's a new three-click system and weather/location will play a factor. Also, apparently on clutch kicks if the opponent "freezes" the kicker by calling a timeout the kicking meter will disappear and you have to make the kick by muscle memory. Kicks and punts can also be blocked.

How badly all of this shit is ****ed up on release remains to be seen but it does seem like they are making a big effort.

Don't know if it will work on this Madden but on 16 you could trade 3rd rounders for pretty damn good interior lineman. Always traded a 3rd for Kevin Zeitler, 91 rated G and sometimes converted him to LT. Sub 80 LT with star development that wanted G money come contract time.

2017 season opener: Chiefs @ Texans

No Maclin, due to a minor preseason injury.

Great first drive. DAT takes a pass down to the 2. Then on a toss, Charles is smashed and fumbles. Terrific.

Texans take over, and I stop them at midfield. Then THIS happens:

Jiminy Christmas. The Texans go on to score 7.

Fortunately, Charles is running wild and I get down to the 1-yard line again and this time Alex sneaks it up the middle to tie the game.

After a stop, CHARLES TEARS HIS ****ING ABS. JJ Watt sacks Alex and I punt, but a sack by Houston brings us to a 7-7 tie at halftime. I HAVE THROWN NO INTERCEPTIONS.

Texans get the ball and I stuff them. My rookie MLB gets a TFL, then Houston and Meeks combine for a sack on third down. Huzzah!

I have a brain fart INT, but the D holds and it's 10-7. I sure could use some ****ing points, and thanks to a long kick return by DAT and a catch from Kelce, I get a FG. 10-10, 2:02 left third.

The Texans answer with a TD drive. I get the ball back and after a great scramble, Alex Smith fumbles the ball away. THANKS DIPSHIT. THANKS FOR THAT BLOCK, KELCE. YOU ALL SUCK.

Then the ****ing UNTHINKABLE happens. Brock Osweiler breaks two ****ing tackles and throws a TD. 24-10. Stupid ass game.

I launch a desperation drive and get in the red zone, and then Alex Smith throws a lovely INT. Note that this was NOT my fault. The receiver was open. It's ****ing Alex Smith. Shitty ****ing throw. **** him.

The Texans then catch me in an all out blitz and their beast mode rookie TE ****s me hard. Holy shit. That guy is a stud.

Garbage time TD, Texans run out the clock, bla bla bla, game over. I outgain the Texans by nine yards and lose by 14 points.

You want turnovers, we got 'em, and only ONE was my fault. The other three are on Charles, Alex and ALLLLEEEEXXXXXXXXX

Game ball: DAT - 6 catches, 89 yards

Injury report:

Charles (abs, 2 weeks)
Maclin (elbow, 2 weeks)
Nick Boyle (ruptured disk, 6 weeks)

On to Cincinnati!

Week 2 vs Bengals

Conley! Leon Hall is slow as shit. I manage to miss the extra point. ****.

Meeks! Berry! Defense!

SUCK IT LEON HALL. I MISS ANOTHER EXTRA POINT. GOD DAMMIT.

Still: THIS is Chiefs Kingdom.

Naturally the Bengals go down the field for a TD. After a Chiefs ground and pound drive, I get into field goal position and then get cute and **** I LOST 4 YARDS.

Predictably I miss the field goal.

Game winning drive? Nah son.

0-2

THIS is Chiefs Kingdumb.

Week 3 vs Raiders

Suck it Sean Smith! The Chiefs take a lead in the second half.

My rookie pass rusher vs the Raiders rookie left tackle. Meeks dominates the entire game, but on the last snap....stonedwalled. Russell gets beat.

God dammit. We go to OT. The Raiders drive down and get a field goal.

Not to worry. I mount a drive, get in the red zone, and look for Conley on the slant. DO IT ALEX!

I'M TRADING THAT SON OF A BITCH TARDIF TOMORROW

You should probably move it down to All Pro because you're apparently not that good.

Next year's QB class is pretty meh. Only one guy with a true first round grade (the first two are downgraded to 2nd rounders after a full scouting report). I really screwed the pooch on Wolff.

And Skip is trolling me again.
