Choco Penii starts his second glorious season tonight with the New York Jets in less than an hour.

Praise him with great praise!

Let's see if he can carry his pre-season play into the regular season.
Geno may very well become good on his own.. but he has a nice supporting cast to lean on. My guess. The team helps him immensely to become good... and then he gets arrested many times thereafter and ruins his career through arrogance and stupidity. Dude just looks like an easily impressionable dumbass that will screw himself over badly.

We would be better off had we just drafted this guy in the 2nd round. Easily.

Fisher and Alex Smith

or

Sheldon Richardson and Geno Smith.

Taking EJ Manuel 1st overall, while mind boggingly stupid, would make more sense than taking Akili Smith's clone in the 2nd round.

So are we going to use mind boggingly stupid when we give Alex Smith 17 million per year?

Chiefs fans don't deserve a young franchise QB. They can't handle that the guy might go thru some growing pains to get there and they'd run him out of town.

But god forbid our first overall pick LT is called out for his struggles. "Give him time you mother ****ers".

I'm in the minority by thinking that we don't give him anything. He'll be 31 going on 32, which means he'll only have a few seasons left of prime Alex Smith (which in all honesty, isn't much at all). Look at Matt Schaub's decline. Maybe we lose 12 games this year, draft 8th, and finally take a damn QB to develop.

It's not that I'm impatient with Geno Smith, it's that I think he was a subpar prospect going into the draft, and I think he'll be a subpar player for the entirety of his career.

It doesn't matter what QB it is.

Insert any of the past 10 years of Qb's that have been drafted early.

People on here and in the Chiefs fan base crushed guys like Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, and Matt Stafford.

Best thing that could happen for the Chiefs right now, is for some contending teams QB to go down for the year right now.

Say Flacco goes down, trade them Smith for a 2nd or 3rd round pick, play Bray or Murray all year and suck.

Yeah I'm sure the vets on this team would love that plan

Two Questions for you:
  1. In recent years, say from 2008-2013, which QBs were available for when the Chiefs were picking, were drafted in the first round, and are top quality QBs?
  2. Looking back on 2012, which is the only year that the Chiefs could have moved up to grab a QB without paying out the ass for the privilege, Would you rather the Chiefs had moved up to get Tannehill, or are you good with Poe?

What have the vets on this team done anyway? How do you think they feel about all this youth movement?

I'd take Tannehill. I think Poe is a little overrated here at times, but thats a different conversation.

And for that matter, we have no idea what a Qb would have become here. It's a completely different situation.

More terrible than playing out the year with Smith and letting him walk?

If they're that far apart on a contract now, and don't intend to give him a deal, it's a smart decision.
