Veach almost got Honey Badger AND Earl Thomas
(Yes this deserves its own thread)
God this would have been some crazy shit. It’s too bad Baltimore panicked and massively overpaid him on a long term deal. Can you imagine having both these guys?

The biggest tell of all in that is they likely plan to use Mathieu as the SS primarily. Meaning that FS is still a need.
Adderley is still a potential target... |

Oh well. Do gotta say seeing Thomas flip off his own sideline while being carted off still sticks in my head. Kinda glad to not be adding that BS.

Veach played this perfectly. ET would have been perfect on a 1 year deal. Ravens panicked badly.

That was what this situation reminded me of. Chiefs were willing to offer big money but on a short term deal, whereas Baltimore was willing to offer both big money on a long term deal. In reality, Chiefs entered the sweepstakes and lost by getting outbid. Did Veach play it right? He may or may not have. That is hard to tell at this point in time. But yeah giving a player like Earl Thomas a 4 year deal with big money is a risk especially since that player is coming off a season ending injury. We learned from Eric Berry and I am sure we don't want to commit those same mistakes again.

If they're looking for a free safety, there are still quite a few guys out there.

That's right, he didn't overpay. Shouldn't you be thrilled?

If you're not going to pay Hill now, use that money and a pick and go get someone on defense.

My thoughts as well- was going to say if they are willing to spend 12 M on another safety they must not be done at the position.

Terez said Thomas was literally on his way to KC before Baltimore came in with a monster offer. Basically emmanuel Sanders part 2

What did Thomas say that implied it was the Chiefs that offered him that?
