Well this is a depressing, albeit, a mildly entertaining look at the details of the Chiefs quarterback history since Montana's departure. Looking back, I am baffled that we were rolling Steve Bono out there after Joe retired.

I'm not old enough to remember much about the 95 season, but I've always been confused by the apparent contradiction of "Bono was the worst QB of all time" and "I can't believe that team didn't win the SB."

Do most people actually consider that a better team than 97? I do have pretty clear memories of that team and it seems like on paper it was better offensively and defensively. That was the most crushing playoff loss to date for me.

Bono wasn’t the worst. That team had the best defense in the NFL and had the #1 rushing offense in the league. There weren’t many big name receivers on that team and Bono was a game manager with a decent arm. The loss that season was probably the most egregious loss of this franchise. We averaged 6 yards per rush that game and the defense only allowed 7 points even though we had 4 turnovers, including 3 interceptions, and three missed FG’s. But Marty wanted to pass the ball so Marcus only got 16 carries and they put the game into the hands of a journeyman QB and a kicker that should have been cut in week 10.

1995 had the easiest path to the Super Bowl. No Elway, No Kelly, No Marino to go through. Had to beat Harbaugh and then Neil O'Donnell in Arrowhead.

It's probably academic because Dallas would have eaten that offense alive.

But at least that'd be a better memory than 80,000 getting dicked by icicles at Arrowhead.

Bono was a big deal when they got him. I remember the fan base being ecstatic and the understanding was he was taking over after joe retired.

The worst football memory of my lifetime was walking out of that stadium. It was like 80 thousand people leaving a funeral once. I didn’t hear a single word spoken from my walk from row 32 of the upper deck all the way across that huge parking lot. The whole next week at work was the same way. The next Sunday was like 60 degrees and sunny and would have been a perfect day for football.
