Mitch Holthus Monday Night Hy-Vee Show

Now that the Chiefs are off for a couple of weeks this is a bit off topic but as I was cleaning out the garage I was listening to the radio and Mitch was on with the Chiefs show at Hy-Vee. Anyway he had guests on and talked as a homer would.

But here is my problem, do they think that the people who listen to the show are just unbelievably slow or something?

I mean seriously he said ( trying to get the crowd to do it at the same time) " Put the hammer down." The first time I heard him say it I thought it was one of the stupidest things I had ever heard, maybe for 1st graders, but not 2nd and beyond. THEN he proceeds to say it at least another dozen times in the broadcast. I mean really? really? really? Fu## I just couldn't believe how bad he was making it sound.

Then he kept saying the word " HUGE " over and over but not the normal way you would just say huge. But he would stretch it out and say it like " HUUUUUUUUGE" and for things that just don't matter, like " Hunt ran for 14 yards on that play, and it was HUUUUUUUGE." Seriously? Again it sounded like something you would say with 1st graders.

I mean I hope its not me that thinks that this show is unbearable to listen too, even if the Chiefs are winning, I still couldn't stomach the " Put the Hammer down" and the " HUUUUGE" comments over and over.

I wish someone would tell them how a$$anine the whole thing sounds...

sorry for the venting, just can't believe that have a radio show with Mitch and several players and they make it sound so remedial.

He needs to go along with Alex Smith. I think during the games he calls the fullback Sausage or something.

He's great with games, and he's a good interview. But yeah, that show is hot trash.

It’s the worst radio that I’ve ever heard. So incredibly hard to listen to.

I always watch the games while listening to Mitch after syncing up the sound. It also allows me the chance to rewatch without listening to the same announcers.

I've done that ever since Harlan called the games. I have admit that my favorite Chiefs radio guys were Wayne Larrivee & Tom Hedrick mainly because when I was a kid the home games weren't on tv.

You should have heard him calling games for K State.

Big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big play for the Wildcats right there.

It's been several years, but I seem to remember him doing an interview where he admitted being worn out having to say Touchdown KAN-SAS-CITY!! everywhere he goes. It was super candid, like a conversation about handing out candy on Halloween or something and he gets hit up to say it like a 1000 times that night. Nobody cares about his thoughts on the defensive scheme, they're just like do the touchdown voice, Mitch!!

Welcome to the planet Mrs. Holthus.

I enjoy the radio call but I'd rather listen to my daughters talk about middle school drama than listen to that show.

We're so lucky to have Len and Mitch calling the games. I've listened to a few other ones through the XM app and there are some terrible ones out there. I'm pretty sure there is a Jesse Ventura impersonator on the Arizona Cardinals announcing team.

How do you slow down the radio broadcast? I would love to do that. BTW, I've met Mitch. He is truly a good guy. The kind of guy you want to have as a friend or neighbor. I think the radio broadcast requires a little bombast. Remember Kevin Harlan's "Oh baby what a play!"? Part of the job.

I think Mitch is OK, but that show is just company propaganda. Always has been.
