Rush will be cut.
Okine plays physical as heck, but technically he is raw. If the club could be patient with him, maybe he develops into a situational pass rusher. I cannot comment on whether either player has upside in a special teams role. |

The upside for either of these guys is what R-Kal Trulock? Rush lead the 9ers in sacks the last two preseasons..... they'll have to make the teams as ST players.

For the first time since 13' depth looks to be an issue

I hope we finally invest in some linebacker talent in the draft next year.

Okine has tons of athletic ability but it looks like he doesn't have a clue what his responsibilities are on any given play. Got caught inside on several run plays to his side. Gave up some chunk running plays.

From what I could see Friday, neither one of them could set the edge to save their lives. Rush gets washed out by blockers against the run and Okine seems to think getting into the backfield is more important than setting the edge. He got good penetration but had no idea where the ball was.

I think both have holes in their game that a year on the practice squad could potentially rectify.
I wouldn't put them on the 53, however. |

The fundamentals of run defense can be coached up. Dee Ford used to be an abortion against the run. Now he's okay. |

Okine looked like every defensive play for him was a jailbreak blitz. But I can't deny he has athletic skills. A PS candidate for certain. Rush, didn't stand out at all (at least for the good).
