With this squad though? Nothing surprises me. Another WS would be quite fitting. I will say - if the Royals win a WS and Moose/Hosmer (and even Cain) aren't brought back for whatever they cost - then

Sidebar here, but it's related. With the White Sox and Tigers(I expect more Tigers trades tomorrow)in rebuilds that will take 2-3 years at minimum, and the Twins being the Twins, if the Royals can keep a few guys or sign decent-ish replacements, the next 2-3 years may not be as dire as originally thought. Indians will be really good but a down year or an injury here or there and the Royals could be a division winner a time or two over the next few years(not counting 2017).

Given the recent deals for top relievers, that would seem to be a cellar level return for a guy like Wilson having his kind of year with 1 more year on his contract.

These rumored deals are coming from Detroit press. Smells more like they are using to Cubs offer to get something better from someone else.

The deal would be Justin Wilson and Alex Avila for Jeimer Candelario, Isaac Paredes and a Player To Be Named Later or cash, I'm told.

Will they be a championship team? Maybe not... but I always thought Dayton will keep them competitive. Especially with the TV contract coming up. We'll still have a great catcher, an ace pitcher and guys like Mondesi and Cuthbert can become at least decent major leaguers. There's tools to build around... and that didn't even include the development of guys like Whit.

But I've also always thought they'd make a big push to sign at least one of our FA's. Probably Hosmer.

Still doesn't change anything. Candelario is the headliner. The fact that he is the Cubs #1 prospect just goes to show how depleted their system is now that everyone is on the 25 man roster or traded. He is not even a top 100 prospect and although he's had a nice couple years at AAA, he's been non-existent in his call ups.

I would make that deal in a ****ing nano second from the Cubs perspective. I just dont buy that the Dodgers or Astros would offer just a tick more.

Yeah. More and more I'm thinking this way as well. I'm also really starting to buy into the probably delusional perspective that Moose and Hos will want to be some sort of new age Trammel and Whitaker(very possible I misspelled both names. Lol).

We have a very real chance of resigning both players. Like I said before I would identical offers 5/150
